John Barbero
John Barbero (February 23, 1945 – July 26, 2010) was the longtime public address announcer for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League, a job he held for 36 years, Barbero also served as a principal for Waynesburg Central High School. Early years Career in education Barbero was a 1963 graduate of California High School, During his tenure there, he also served as president of student council, National Honor Society treasurer, and College Club vice president and homeroom president, among other things. He also was a member of Boy's Octet, Chorale and Spanish Clubs. John went to Grove City College, where he majored in business administration. While at Grove City, he pursued a broadcasting career when he started working at the college radio station as well as a downtown FM station. The 2010–11 Pittsburgh Penguins season was the team's 44th season in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Penguins began the season in their new arena, CONSOL Energy Center, which is adjacent from their old facility, Mellon Arena, which had been the third smallest and oldest arena in the NHL. The 2009–10 NHL season was the 93rd season of operation (92nd season of play) of the National Hockey League (NHL). ''Sudden Death'' is a 1995 American action-thriller film directed by Peter Hyams and starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Powers Boothe, and Dorian Harewood. Civic Arena (Pittsburgh)
The Civic Arena, formerly the Civic Auditorium and later Mellon Arena, was an arena located in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Civic Arena primarily served as the home to the Pittsburgh Penguins, the city's National Hockey League (NHL) franchise, from 1967 to 2010. Constructed in 1961 for use by the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera (CLO), it was the brainchild of department store owner Edgar J. Kaufmann.
