John Angus McMillan
John Angus McMillan (June 11, 1874 – December 23, 1922) was an Ontario merchant and political figure. He represented Glengarry in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1905 to 1908 and in the House of Commons of Canada The House of Commons of Canada () is the lower house of the Parliament of Canada. Glengarry (federal Electoral District)
Glengarry was a federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1917, and from 1925 to 1953. It was located in the province of Ontario. It was created by the British North America Act 1867, and consisted of Glengarry county. The electoral district was abolished in 1914 when it was merged into Glengarry and Stormont riding. It was recreated in 1924, consisting again of the county of Glengarry. The electoral district was abolished in 1952 when it was merged into Glengarry—Prescott ridings. Jacob Thomas Schell (December 27, 1850 – July 29, 1916) was a merchant and political figure. He represented Glengarry in the House of Commons of Canada from 1900 to 1908 as a Liberal member. He was born in East Oxford Township, Canada West in 1850, the son of Jacob Schell, and educated in Woodstock. He is greatgrandson of Johann Christian Schell, a Palatine German from German Flatts, New York, who died fighting for the Americans in 1782 on his farm. The family moved to Canada after the American Revolution to take advantage of the land available in Ontario.
