Joe Burgstaller
Josef Burgstaller is an American trumpet player, teacher, and arranger. Conductor JoAnn Falletta called him "quite simply, a superstar of the trumpet". He was a member of Canadian Brass for nearly eight years, and continues to tour worldwide as a soloist. Burgstaller returned to the Canadian Brass in June 2023. Biography Burgstaller was born in Chicago Illinois. He was a child prodigy beginning the cornet at age six. By age twelve, he was soloing with area bands and playing in jazz clubs, and by age fifteen, he was the youngest professional in the Virginia Opera orchestra. He studied at Arizona State University where he received both his bachelor's and master's degrees. After college, he became a member of the Meridian Arts Ensemble which he performed with for six years. By 2001 he had become one of The United States' busiest trumpet soloists, performing over 50 concerts each season. Canadian Brass
The Canadian Brass is a Canadian brass quintet formed in 1970 in Toronto, Ontario, by Charles Daellenbach (tuba) and Gene Watts (trombone), with horn player Graeme Page and trumpeters Stuart Laughton and Bill Phillips completing the quintet. , Daellenbach is the sole original member in the group, with the other members being trumpeters Caleb Hudson and Brandon Ridenour, hornist Jeff Nelsen, and trombonist Achilles Liarmakopoulos. The group is known for the use of humor in their live performances and an irreverent attitude that includes their signature attire of formal black suits with white running shoes. They have performed internationally and have recorded more than 130 CDs and DVDs. They have commissioned, performed, and recorded hundreds of transcriptions and original works for brass quintet. JoAnn Falletta (born February 27, 1954 in Queens, New York) is an American conductor. Biography Falletta was raised in the borough of Queens in an Italian-American household. She was educated at the Mannes College of Music and The Juilliard School in New York City. She began her musical career as a guitar and mandolin player, and in her twenties was often called to perform with the Metropolitan Opera and New York Philharmonic when a work called for a mandolin or guitar obbligato. Falletta entered Mannes in 1972 as a guitar student, but began conducting the student orchestra in her freshman year, which initiated her interest in a conducting career. While the Mannes administration at that time expressed doubts about the ability of any woman to gain a music directorship, it consented to an official transfer of emphasis for Falletta. Hector Martignon
Hector Martignon is a Colombian pianist and composer of Italian descent living in New York City. Two of Martignon's albums have been nominated for a Grammy Award: Refugee (2007) and Second Chance (2010). Martignon is known for crossbreeding the improvisational language of Jazz with diverse musical idioms, such as Classical European, Latin American folklore and World Music.
