Joachim Witt
Joachim Witt (born 22 February 1949) is a German rock musician and actor who has been active since 1977. During his prolific 50-year career, Witt has released 20 studio albums and a further 8 compilation and live albums as a solo artist. Early in his career, a member of the krautrock band Duesenberg, Witt released an additional three studio albums. Biography Witt was the guitarist/singer in the 1970s krautrock band Duesenberg. He released three albums with them, ''Duesenberg'' (1977), ''Duesenberg 2'' (1978) and ''Strangers'' (1979), before embarking on a solo career as a singer and actor. Witt became a major star of the German pop scene during the 1980s with huge hits such as "Goldener Reiter". He was one of the biggest names of the "Neue Deutsche Welle" (New German Wave), of which performers like Nena and Falco were also a part. Krautrock
Krautrock (also called , German for ) is a broad genre of experimental rock that developed in Germany in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It originated among artists who blended elements of psychedelic rock, avant-garde composition, and electronic music, among other eclectic sources. Common elements included hypnotic rhythms, extended improvisation, musique concrète techniques, and early synthesizers, while the music generally moved away from the rhythm & blues roots and song structure found in traditional rock music. Prominent groups associated with the krautrock label included Neu!, Can, Faust, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Cluster, Ash Ra Tempel, Popol Vuh, Amon Düül II and Harmonia. Lacrimosa (band)
Lacrimosa is a Swiss gothic metal band led by German musician Tilo Wolff, who is also the main composer, and Finn Anne Nurmi. They are currently based in Switzerland, but originally from Germany. Originally counted among the bands of the Neue Deutsche Todeskunst genre, Lacrimosa are most commonly associated with the gothic metal genre. Their musical style mixes gothic rock and heavy metal (music), heavy metal, along with violin, trumpet, and more classical music, classical instruments, although their musical development throughout the years has led to changes in instrumentation. Lacrimosa's lyrics are written almost exclusively in German, although since the 1995 album ''Inferno,'' every album has featured one or two songs in English. Tilo Wolff
Tilo Wolff (born 10 July 1972) is a German musician and artist. He was born in Frankfurt am Main and currently lives in Switzerland. His longest-running project is the band Lacrimosa, which debuted in 1990. The band embraces a diverse range of gothic, darkwave and orchestral musical styles. Wolff composes, arranges, and writes the lyrics for almost all of Lacrimosa's songs. He also sings and plays piano for the songs and has contributed to the design of the album sleeves' designs. The same year Lacrimosa was founded, Wolff founded the independent record label, "Hall of Sermon" to finance Lacrimosa without being dependent on outside record companies. Hall of Sermon now has eight darkwave bands other than Lacrimosa on its books, including Dreams of Sanity and Girls Under Glass. Angelzoom
Claudia Uhle (born 15 March 1976) is a German singer, known for being a member of X-Perience. Early life Uhle was born in Johannisthal in East Berlin. She first learned the flute and the piano before practicing singing. She attended the Georg-Friedrich-Händel-Oberschule in Berlin, a special music school. During school she sang in various choirs, as a teenager she sang at the Berlin State Opera. Career In 1995, Uhle joined the pop group X-Perience, in which her brother Matthias was already playing. The band found success in 1996 with the song "A Neverending Dream". In 2007, Uhle left the band to focus on her solo project, Angelzoom. In 2020, she rejoined X-Perience. Wolfsheim (band)
Wolfsheim () was a German synthpop duo from Hamburg that consisted of Markus Reinhardt and Peter Heppner. Although never officially disbanded, Wolfsheim has been inactive since 2005 due to a dispute between the two members, which even led to trials in 2007 and 2008 that forbade either member to continue Wolfsheim without the other. The band's musical style takes cues from the 1980s New Romanticism and New wave music, new wave, usually considered synthpop or Dark wave, darkwave.
