Jiřího Z Poděbrad (Prague Metro)
Jiřího z Poděbrad () is a Prague Metro station on Line A, located in Vinohrady, Prague 3. In January 2023 it closed for reconstruction. General information The station was named after the eponymous square it lies under, which was named after George of Poděbrady. Jiřího z Poděbrad is an underground trispan station. The main materials used on walls and ceilings are anodized aluminium, marble and granite. The only exit leads to an underground vestibule, which is connected with the platform by escalator tunnel. The station was opened on 19 December 1980 as part of the extension of the line between Náměstí Míru and Želivského. In January 2023 the station closed to undergo a year-long reconstruction, with trains passing through without stopping. The reconstruction will involve replacing the escalators and installing new lifts for step-free access. Želivského () is a station on Line A of the Prague Metro. The station is located under Vinohradská street next to the Olšany Cemetery. It is named after the Jana Želivského street, which is itself named after Jan Želivský Jan Želivský (1380 in Humpolec – 9 March 1422 in Prague) was a prominent Czech priest during the Hussite Reformation. Church Of The Most Sacred Heart Of Our Lord
The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord ( cs, Kostel Nejsvětějšího Srdce Páně) is a Roman Catholic church at Jiřího z Poděbrad Square in Prague's Vinohrady district. It was built between 1929 and 1932 and designed by the Slovene architect Jože Plečnik. Plečnik found the inspiration for this construction in old Christian and ancient patterns. This was one of three new buildings constructed in 1929 in Prague, inspired by the 1000th anniversary of the death of St. Wenceslas. The most expensive construction for Wenceslas's commemoration in Prague was the completion of the medieval St. Vitus Cathedral, but the Catholic Church also decided to build two new churches. One church was to be built in Vršovice, Prague 10 – St. Wenceslas Church (Vršovice) by Czech architect Josef Gočár and this one, which was to be built at Jiřího z Poděbrad Square in Vinohrady. Calexico (band)
Calexico is a Tucson, Arizona-based Americana, Tex-Mex, indie rock band. The band's two main members, Joey Burns and John Convertino, first played together in Los Angeles as part of the group Giant Sand. They have recorded a number of albums on Quarterstick Records, while their 2005 EP '' In the Reins'', recorded with Iron & Wine, reached the Billboard 200 album charts. Their musical style is influenced by traditional Latin sounds of mariachi, conjunto, cumbia, and tejano mixed with country, jazz, and post-rock. The band is named for the border town of Calexico, California, and has been described by some as "desert noir". ''Airbag/How Am I Driving?'' is the fifth EP by the English rock band Radiohead, released in April 1998 in North America. It collects most of the B-sides from singles released from Radiohead's third album, ''OK Computer'' (1997), plus the ''OK Computer'' song "Airbag". Contents ''Airbag/How Am I Driving?'' collects most of the ''OK Computer'' B-sides, omitting "Lull" (from the " Karma Police" single) and "How I Made My Millions" from the " No Surprises" single. "Meeting in the Aisle" was Radiohead's first instrumental, featuring programming by Zero 7's Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. Physical copies of the EP contain a questionnaire in their liner notes, along with two short stories titled "Chip Shop" and "New Job" (presumably written by Stanley Donwood, who created the artwork for ''OK Computer''). Náměstí Míru (, English: ''Peace Square'') is a Prague Metro station on Line A. It is located in Vinohrady district under ''Korunní'' Street and has one exit through an escalator tunnel with a sub-surface vestibule under the plaza of the same name. The exit of the metro station is in the immediate vicinity of the Church of St. Ludmila and Vinohrady Theatre. The station was completed along with the first section of Line A, between Leninova and Náměstí Míru, and opened on 12 August 1978. It served as a terminus until the extension of Line A to Želivského station on 19 December 1980. Jiřího Z Poděbrad Square
Jiřího z Poděbrad Square (''George of Poděbrady Square'', officially: ''náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad'') is located in Vinohrady district in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. It is dominated by Art Nouveau Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord from 1932, which stands in the middle of it. The majority of the square is actually an urban park, there is also a stone fountain included. Metro and tram stops of the same are located on the square. History Jiřího z Poděbrad Square was established in 1896 and was previously called ''King George Square'' (''Náměstí krále Jiřího''), by name of George of Poděbrady, who was a king of Bohemia from 1458 to 1471.
