Jinnah Sports Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home venue for the Pakistan national football team. The stadium has a capacity of 48,700 people, and is the largest stadium in Pakistan. The stadium is owned by the Pakistan Sports Board. The stadium is part of the Pakistan Sports Complex which also houses Liaquat Gymnasium, a gymnasium sports complex for indoor sports. History Early years Named after Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the stadium was built in the 1970s by Chinese State Construction Engineering for hosting the 1978 Asian Games, which were ultimately shifted to Bangkok. 2014 SAFF Women's Championship
The 2014 SAFF Women's Championship was an association football tournament for women's national teams organised by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). It was the third edition of the tournament since the first one in 2010. The competition was contested by the eight SAFF members. The tournament was hosted in Islamabad, Pakistan from 11 to 21 November 2014. In the final, India successfully defended their title by beating Nepal in the final. Host selection On 10 September 2013, SAFF executive committee decided that 3rd SAFF Women's Championship will be held in Pakistan. Venue Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad hosted all the matches. Although entry to all games was free, there were very few local spectators. The National Women's Football Championship is the top cup competition for women's football clubs in Pakistan. It was started in 2005 by the Pakistan Football Federation. Young Rising Stars has been the most successful team in the history of the competition, winning it five times (including four consecutive wins from 2010 to 2013). The Pakistan Premier League (PPL; ) is a Pakistani semi-professional league for men's football clubs. The top tier of the Pakistan football league system, the PPL operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the PFFL B Division.
