James Perry (journalist)
James Perry, born James Pirie (30 October 1756 – 4 December 1821) was a British journalist and newspaper editor. Biography Admitted to Marischal College, Aberdeen, in 1771, he began studying for the Faculty of Advocates, Scottish bar. Forced to abandon his studies after his father's building business failed in 1774, he moved to London in 1777. He became a reporter for ''The General Advertiser'' and the ''London Evening Post'', where he raised sales in 1779 by his court reporting from the Portsmouth trial of Augustus Keppel, 1st Viscount Keppel, Admiral Keppel and Hugh Palliser, Admiral Palliser. He established ''The European Magazine'' in 1782, leaving it a year later to edit ''The Gazeteer'' as "the Paper of the People". In 1790 he managed to become owner and editor of the ''Morning Chronicle''. In 1791–92 he reported from Paris on the progress of the French Revolution. James Perry is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at his alma mater, Brown University, where he was a starting quarterback in the late 1990s. Biography Perry is the youngest of seven children by Massachusetts hall of fame track and field coach Ernest Perry Jr. While a student at Malden Catholic High School, Perry played football, basketball, and track, receiving the Phelps Scholar-Athlete Award in 1996. James DeWolf Perry (October 3, 1871 – March 20, 1947) was an American Episcopal clergyman and prelate. He was the 7th Bishop of Rhode Island (1911–1946) and the 18th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church (1930–1937). Biography The third of five children, Perry was born in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the Rev. James DeWolf Perry II and Elizabeth Russell Tyson. James Evan Perry Jr. (born October 30, 1935) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1959 to 1975 for the Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, and Oakland Athletics. During a 17-year baseball career, Perry compiled 215 wins, 1,576 strikeouts, and a 3.45 earned run average. He won the Cy Young Award in 1970 and was a three-time MLB All-Star. He and his younger brother Gaylord Perry, who were Cleveland teammates in 1974–1975, became the first brothers to both win 200 games in the major leagues, and remain the only brothers to both win Cy Young Awards. James Perry (; ) was an Irish luthier from Dublin, known for making violins, violas and cellos. His workshop was based in Kilkenny and also produced instruments such as guitars, German flutes, fifes and tenors. Perry is credited with having made over 1000 instruments. He was a brother and apprentice to Dublin luthier, Thomas Perry, and a protégé of the Ormonde family of Kilkenny Castle. James Lewis Perry (born 19 November 1979 in Cape Town) is a South African former professional road cyclist.
