James Lewis Perry
James Lewis Perry (born 19 November 1979 in Cape Town) is a South African former professional road cyclist. Perry has previously ridden for the UCI Professional Continental team Barloworld until the team's demise. In 2001 he won a bronze medal at the World Under 23 Time Trial Championship. He has been a professional since 2002. He won the Time Trial at the South African Championships in 2002, and also came second in 2007. He also won the Grand Prix Möbel Alvisse in 2005, while riding for the Konica Minolta team. The Tour of Japan is an annual professional road bicycle racing stage race held in Japan since 1996 as part of the UCI Asia Tour. It is sanctioned by the International Cycling Union (UCI) as a 2.1 category race. History Tour of Japan was formed as the successor of the Kokusai Cycle Road Race which began in 1982. In 1996, Tour of Japan began as a UCI category 2-5 stage race, and became category 2–4 in 1997. It was downgraded to category 2–5 in 2002. Road bicycle racing is the cycle sport discipline of road cycling, held primarily on paved roads. Road racing is the most popular professional form of bicycle racing, in terms of numbers of competitors, events and spectators.
