Jim Curtin
Jim Curtin (born June 23, 1979) is an American professional soccer coach and former player who is the current head coach of the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer. He spent most of his playing career with the Chicago Fire. Youth and college Curtin grew up in Oreland, Pennsylvania and played high school soccer at Bishop McDevitt. He excelled in college soccer at Villanova University, being named the Big East Rookie of the Year his freshman year, and taking home first-team All-Big East selections his junior and senior seasons. Club career Chicago Fire Following graduation, Curtin became the first Wildcat to be drafted by the MLS when he was selected by the Chicago Fire. Perceptions that Curtin was not athletic enough to play professionally, and the relative obscurity of Villanova, led to Curtin not being drafted until the third round of the 2001 MLS SuperDraft. Oreland is a United States census-designated place (CDP) in Springfield and Upper Dublin townships, just outside the Chestnut Hill and Mount Airy areas of Philadelphia. Diego Gutiérrez (soccer, Born 1972)
Diego Gutiérrez (born November 3, 1972 in Bogotá, Colombia) is an American retired professional soccer player, who spent his career between Chicago Fire and Kansas City Wizards, both of Major League Soccer, and is currently a radio commentator for ESPN Deportes Kansas City. Born in Colombia, he played for the United States national team. Early life and education Born in Colombia, Gutiérrez was part of that country's youth teams. He came to the United States to attend the University of Evansville and Rockhurst University. He was a 1994 First Team NAIA All American at Rockhurst. Seattle Sounders Football Club is an American professional men's soccer club based in Seattle. The Sounders compete as a member of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). The club was established on November 13, 2007, and began play in 2009 as an MLS expansion team. 2014 Philadelphia Union Season
The 2014 Philadelphia Union season is the club's fifth season of existence, competing in Major League Soccer, the top flight of American soccer. The club was initially managed by John Hackworth, in his third season (second full season) with the club. In June, Hackworth was fired from his role as head coach and assistant coach Jim Curtin was promoted on an interim basis. At the conclusion of the season, Curtin was officially made permanent head coach, making him the third head coach in the club's history. John Hackworth
John Hackworth (born February 5, 1970, in Dunedin, Florida) is an American soccer coach who is currently Director of Coaching for St. Louis City SC of Major League Soccer and the interim head coach for the club's MLS Next Pro side. Player Hackworth graduated from Dunedin High School in his Florida hometown. He began his collegiate soccer career at Brevard College in 1988 and 1989. In 1990, he transferred to Wake Forest University where he redshirted and played in 1991 and 1992. Hackworth then played several years in the United States Development Soccer League. In 1997, his amateur team, La Correta, played against the Carolina Dynamo of the A-League in a game where Hackworth shut down the Trinidad & Tobago international Stern John. Chivas USA (pronounced ''CHEE-vahs'') was an American professional soccer team based in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson, California. The club played from 2005 to 2014 in Major League Soccer (MLS) and was a subsidiary of Mexican club C.D. Guadalajara, sharing common ownership and branding. The club was the eleventh MLS team upon its entry into the league in 2004. Chivas USA was intended to be seen as a "little brother" to its parent club C.D. Carlos Bocanegra
Carlos Manuel Bocanegra (born May 25, 1979) is an American sports executive and former professional soccer player. A two-time MLS Defender of the Year, Bocanegra also played professionally in England, Scotland, France, and Spain. He earned over 100 caps with the United States, serving as captain for six years.
