Jhanji
Jhanji() is a small semi-rural area situated in Sivasagar and Jorhat districts. The river Jhanji River divides these two districts. History The river Jhanji is famous from the time of Ahom kingdom in Assam. It physically divides Jorhat and Sivasagar districts of Assam.The word Jhanji is an Assamese compound word. In Assamese, Jhanji means "jhanjori kohiyua nodi"; the river which flows waste products of flood. In the time of flood it carries away trees, mud, etc. So it was named as Jhanji. In old Bihu songs such as ''Jibon Jaji noi'' and ''Jhanji noi eribo nuwaru'', the Jhanji river is mentioned. Jhanji Hemnath Sarma College
Jhanji Hemnath Sarma College is a college situated in Jhanji, Sivasagar, Assam, India. It was founded on 25 July 1964. The college is affiliated with Dibrugarh University and recognized by the University Grants Commission. History Jhanji HNS College was established on 25 July 1964. Some of the educated people of Jhanji tried to establish an institute of higher education in the rural area. One of them is Hemnath Sarma. Initially, the name of the college was Jhanji College. It was inaugurated by the great scholar, linguist Jogiraj Basu. Satyendranath Sarma
Satyendranath Sarma (1917 - 1999) was an Assamese writer, educationalist, research scholar, critic and historian. He presided over the Assam Sahitya Sabha venue of Titabor in 1975. Chandra Prasad Saikia (1927–2006) was a writer from Assam, India. He was the president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha held at Hajo and Jorhat district, Assam in 1999 and 2000, respectively. Titabor () is a town in the Jorhat district of Assam in India. It is about 20 km away from Jorhat City. It is one of the highly greeny places of Assam, surrounded by different tea-estates.
