Dalit
Dalit ( from meaning "broken/scattered") is a term used for untouchables and outcasts, who represented the lowest stratum of the castes in the Indian subcontinent. They are also called Harijans. Dalits were excluded from the fourfold varna of the caste hierarchy and were seen as forming a fifth varna, also known by the name of ''Panchama''. Several scholars have drawn parallels between Dalits and the '' Burakumin'' of Japan, the '' Baekjeong'' of Korea and the peasant class of the medieval European feudal system. Rupjyoti Kurmi
Rupjyoti Kurmi (born 24 July 1977) is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party. In May 2021, he was elected as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Mariani (constituency). He defeated Ramani Tanti of Bharatiya Janata Party by 2,446 votes in 2021 Assam Assembly election. In June 2021, he was expelled from Indian National Congress due to disagreement of promotion of the youngster in the party and for his anti-party activities. Hitendra Nath Goswami is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly from 30 January 2017 to 20 May 2021. Goswami is a member of Assam Legislative Assembly from Jorhat constituency. Jorhat District
Jorhat (pron: ˈʤɔ:(r)ˌhɑ:t) is an administrative district of the Indian state of Assam situated in the central part of the Brahmaputra Valley. The district is bounded by Majuli on north, Nagaland state on the south, Sivasagar on the east and Golaghat on the west. On the north of the district, the river Brahmaputra forms the largest riverine island of the world. The administrative seat is at Jorhat city. Jorhat was previously a sub-division of undivided Sibsagar district. In 1983, Jorhat was carved out of Sibsagar District and was made a separate district. Majuli District
Majuli district is situated on Majuli, the largest river island in the world, in the Brahmaputra River in Northeastern Assam. It is the first river island district of the country. On September 8, 2016, an additional district was announced by Sarbananda Sonowal, taking the total number from 32 to 33 after Majuli was carved out of the Northern parts of Jorhat.
