Jens Juel (diplomat)
Jens Juel (15 July 1631 – 23 May 1700) was a Danish diplomat and statesman of great influence at the Danish-Norwegian court. He was created Baron and granted Juellinge in 1672 and also established Juellund in 1694. He was the brother of Admiral Niels Juel. Biography The son of Erik Juel and Sophie Sehested, both descendants of Danish noble families, Jens Juel was born on 15 July 1631 at Nørtorp, an estate in Thy in the north of Jutland. He studied at Sorø Academy and then set out on a four years journey abroad to further his education. There he met Count Christian Rantzau in Vienna and started a diplomatic career when he accompanied him to the Reichstag in Regensburg in 1652. In August 1657 Juel was appointed Ambassador to Poland, and though he failed to prevent King John Casimir from negotiating separately with Sweden, he was made a privy councillor on his return home. Jens Juel (painter)
Jens Juel (12 May 1745 – 27 December 1802) was a Danish painter, primarily known for his many portraits, of which the largest collection is on display at Frederiksborg Castle. He is regarded as the leading Danish portrait painter of the 18th century. Early life and career He was born in the house of his mother's brother Johan Jørgensen, who was a school teacher in Balslev on the island of Funen. Jens Juel was the son of Vilhelmine Elisabeth Juel (January 1725 – March 1799), who served at Wedellsborg, and Jørgen Jørgensen (1724 – 4 June 1796), who was a schoolmaster in Gamborg, not far from Balslev, and he grew up in Gamborg. Jens Hermansson Juel
Jens Hermansson Juel or Jens Juel (born 8 January 1580 at Refstrup,Denmark died 26 March 1634 at Bøvling, Denmark) was a Danish nobleman who served as Governor-general of Norway from 1618 to 1629. Early years Juel attended the Sorø Academy from 1590 to 1596, and then had a seven-year educational trip with studies abroad, ending in 1603 when he became employed at the Danish chancery. He advanced quickly, being given major tasks: Danish Treasury (responsible for accounting, payment and collection of customs duties and taxes, as well as management of state property, including forests, roads and buildings) beginning in 1609, member of the Danish national council from 1616 and assignment to serve on several diplomatic missions. Jens Juel-Vind (1694 – 20 December 1726), baron of Juellinge, was a Danish chamberlain and landowner. Early life Juel-Vind was born in 1694, the son of Friderich Vind of Harrested and Baggesvogn, and Sophia Catharina, Baroness Juel of Juellinge. His mother was a daughter of the statesman Jens Juel. He had no sons to succeed him as Baron of Juellinge and the estate was therefore passed on to his son-in-law in 1700. Career and property He owned Juellinge from 1706. On 1 May 1708, he was awarded title of '' frierre'' under the name Juel-Vind. He was a student at the University of Copenhagen from 1712 to 1717. Jens Krag-Juel-Vind
Jens Krag-Juel-Vind (15 June 1724 – 30 April 1776), Baron of Juellinge, was a Danish nobleman, Supreme Court justice and landowner. Early life and education He was born at Juellinge (now Halsted Priory), the son of Jens Juel-Vind (1694-1726) and Ide Helle Margaretha, Baroness Krag (1697-1738). He had two sisters. His father died when he was just two years old and Juellinge was then managed by his maternal uncle Niels Juel Reedtz (1699-1742) of Palsgaard and by Joachim Gersdorff. Krag-Juel-Vind studied at the University of Hannover from 1741 and at the University of Copenhagen from 1743. Career He served as an accessor in the Danish Chancellery from 1745 to 1756. Jens Juel (28 April 1897 – 25 December 1978) was a Danish estate owner, chamberlain and Member of the Royal Hunt. He was from 1938 the owner of Petersgaard at Vordingborg, including the vast Pedersgaard Forest District. He was a board member of the Danish Forrest Association (1959–1965). He served as director both of (1940–1962) and of Det Classenske Fideicommis (1948–1974). Early life and education Juel was born on 28 April 1897 at Meilgaard, the son of Niels Joachim Christian Gregers Iuel and Clara Anna Sofie Treschow. Petersgaard is a Neoclassical manor house and agricultural estate located between Kalvehave and Vordingborg in Vordingborg Municipality, on the southern part of Zealand, in southeastern Denmark. The Neoclassical main building overlooks Ulvsund and the Queen Alexandrine Bridge, with the island of Møn in the background.
