Jehad Abdullah Muhammad Al Fadhel () is a Bahraini media personality and politician. She was appointed to the Consultative Council in 2012. Career Al Fadhel earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with an emphasis on Translation from the University of Bahrain (UB) in 2001, a Master of Arts in English Linguistics from the same school in 2004, a Doctorate in Media with an emphasis on Journalism from the University of Bedfordshire in 2009, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education as a joint program between the UB and York St John University in 2011. ''Al-Wasat'' (), also ''Alwasat'', was an Arabic-language daily newspaper in Manama, Bahrain. ''Al-Wasat'' was generally regarded as the only independent newspaper in Bahrain. The newspaper ran for 15 years, during which is provided reporting unique to Bahrain. The government of Bahrain forcibly closed the newspaper on 4 June 2017, in a move which Amnesty International termed an "all-out campaign to end independent reporting". The Information Affairs Authority (IAA) is Bahrain's ministry of information that was formed in July 2010. The president of IAA is appointed directly by the King of Bahrain and has the rank of a minister (government), minister in the Bahrain government. The Consultative Council (''Majlis al-shura''), also known as the Shura Council, is the upper house of the National Assembly, the main legislative body of Bahrain. The Council comprises forty members appointed directly by the King of Bahrain.
