Information Affairs Authority
The Information Affairs Authority (IAA) is Bahrain's ministry of information that was formed in July 2010. The president of IAA is appointed directly by the King of Bahrain and has the rank of a minister in the Bahrain government. From July 2010 to 2012, Fawaz bin Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa was President of IAA. In 2012, he relinquished the position to take up an appointment as Minister of State for Communication, and Sameera Rajab was appointed in his place. Responsibilities The responsibilities of IAA include: * controlling the Bahrain News Agency * controlling the Bahrain Radio and Television Corporation * regulating press and publications in the country * acting as the official spokesperson for the government of Bahrain. The Cabinet of Bahrain is the chief executive body of the Kingdom of Bahrain. According to Article 32 (b) of the 2002 Constitution, "executive authority is vested in the King together with the Council of Ministers and Ministers". Mariam Bukamal is a Bahraini sports commentator, anchor, television and radio personality. Career Bukamal joined the Information Affairs Authority while she was in fourth grade to host ''Rokn Al Atphal,'' a radio program. Her television career started when she began presenting the program ''Youth Time'' with Ali Hussein. She was an English teacher, before she joined the News Center as a sports anchor, and in 2011 became chief editor of the sport bulletin news. She started presenting variety shows through the ''Weekend'' program, which soon became a hit show. The 2011 Bahraini uprising was a series of anti-government protests in Bahrain led by the Shia-dominant and some Sunni minority Bahraini opposition from 2011 until 2014. The Ministry of the Interior is responsible for law enforcement and public safety in Bahrain. The headquarters of the ministry is the Diwan Fort (also known as Manama Fort) in Manama, colloquially referred to as "al-gal'aa". Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa
Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa ( ar, خليفة بن سلمان آل خليفة) (24 November 1935 – 11 November 2020) was a Bahraini royal and politician who served as the Prime Minister of Bahrain from 10 January 1970 until his death in 2020. He took office over a year before Bahrain's independence on 15 August 1971. He was the longest-serving prime minister in the world. Under the 2002 Constitution he lost some of his powers, with the King now having the authority to appoint and (along with the Bahraini parliament) dismiss ministers.
