Jeanette Morang
Commodore Jeanette Morang (May 12, 1965) is an active Dutch officer in the Royal Netherlands Navy. Enlisting in 1983, Morang completed training as a naval officer at the Royal Naval Institute in 1986. She has held a number of ship and shore based appointments. In 1997, Morang commanded the minehunter HNLMS Alkmaar. From 1999 to 2003 she was head of intelligence and operations for the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba Coast Guard. Morang was the first female frigate commander in the Royal Netherlands Navy. On 12 January 2007, at 41 years of age, Morang was appointed as commander of the air defense and command frigate (LCF) HNLMS De Ruyter (F804). She held this appointment until July 2009. After that, she worked on the staff of Commander Naval Forces in The Hague until 2013 and as a liaison officer with NATO in Brussels. On 14 June 2019, Morang was be promoted to the rank of commodore. Commodore (rank)
Commodore is a senior naval rank used in many navies which is equivalent to brigadier and air commodore. It is superior to a navy captain, but below a rear admiral. It is either regarded as the most junior of the flag officers rank or may not hold the jurisdiction of a flag officer at all depending on the officer's appointment. Non-English-speaking nations commonly use the rank of flotilla admiral, counter admiral, or senior captain as an equivalent, although counter admiral may also correspond to ''rear admiral lower half'' abbreviated as RDML. Traditionally, "commodore" is the title for any officer assigned to command more than one ship, even temporarily, much as "captain" is the traditional title for the commanding officer of a single ship even if the officer's official title in the service is a lower rank. Royal Netherlands Navy
The Royal Netherlands Navy ( nl, Koninklijke Marine, links=no) is the naval force of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. During the 17th century, the navy of the Dutch Republic (1581–1795) was one of the most powerful naval forces in the world and played an active role in the Anglo-Dutch Wars, the Franco-Dutch War, and wars against Spain and several other European powers. The Batavian Navy of the later Batavian Republic (1795–1806) and Kingdom of Holland (1806–1810) played an active role in the Napoleonic Wars, though mostly dominated by French interests. Minehunter
A minehunter is a naval vessel that seeks, detects, and destroys individual naval mines. Minesweepers, on the other hand, clear mined areas as a whole, without prior detection of mines. A vessel that combines both of these roles is known as a mine countermeasures vessel (MCMV). Description A minehunter uses an imaging sonar to detect and classify targets and then sends out divers or remotely operated vehicles to inspect and neutralise the threat, often using small charges that are detonated remotely. As minehunters will often be operating in close proximity to mines, they are designed so as to reduce their own acoustic and magnetic signatures, two common forms of trigger for mines. The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard (DCCG) ( nl, Kustwacht Caribisch Gebied (''KWCARIB'')) is the coast guard of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Dutch Caribbean. HNLMS ''De Ruyter'' ( nl, Zr. Ms. De Ruyter) is a of the Royal Netherlands Navy. She was laid down in 2000, launched in 2002, and commissioned in 2004, the third ship of her class to enter service. The frigate is named after Dutch admiral Michiel de Ruyter (1607–1676).
