Jaz (beer)
Jaz Beer is a pilsner-type rice beer, the first and only brand brewed in Malaysia. It is produced using rice (rather than the usual barley), imported malt, imported hops, and German cultivated yeast. Due to Malaysian licensing laws, the product sale is limited to non-Muslims at ''Refreshment Outlets'', such as coffee shops, restaurants and food courts; or ''night entertainment outlets'', as pubs, karaoke, clubs, Beer gardens and late-opening restaurants. Unlike many developed countries, in Malaysia the majority of alcohol consumption occurs on premises. Pilsner
Pilsner (also pilsener or simply pils) is a type of pale lager. It takes its name from the Bohemian city of Plzeň (german: Pilsen), where the world's first pale lager (now known as Pilsner Urquell) was produced in 1842 by Pilsner Urquell Brewery. History Origin The city of Plzeň was granted brewing rights in 1307, but until the mid-1840s, most Bohemian beers were top-fermented. Originally called in german: Bürger-Brauerei Pilsen ( cs, Měšťanský pivovar Plzeň, en, Citizens' Brewery), it is now known as Pilsner Urquell Brewery. It was here they began to brew beer in the Bavarian style. Brewers had begun aging beer made with cool fermenting yeasts in caves (lager, i.e., german: gelagert tored, which improved the beer's clarity and shelf-life. A pub (short for public house) is a kind of drinking establishment which is licensed to serve alcoholic drinks for consumption on the premises. The term ''public house'' first appeared in the United Kingdom in late 17th century, and was used to differentiate private houses from those which were, quite literally, open to the public as "alehouses", " taverns" and " inns". Beer In Malaysia
Beer in Malaysia started in 1968, when two leading breweries of Guinness and Malayan Breweries merged to form a new company known as Guinness Anchor Berhad. Previously, the distribution of beer in Malaysia is mainly distributed by Malayan Breweries Limited which is centred in neighbouring Singapore. Carlsberg establish its first brewery outside Kuala Lumpur in 1970. By 2007, several local breweries began to establish their presence in the country although the demands for commercial beers are much higher than a newly local brands. Beside local productions, most beers in the Malaysian markets are imported from neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam. Gillian Chung Ka-lai (born Chung Tik-shan, 21 January 1981), known by her stage name Chung Yan-tung, is a Hong Kong actress and singer. A beer garden (German: ''Biergarten'') is an outdoor area in which beer and food are served, typically at shared tables shaded by trees. Beer gardens originated in Bavaria, of which Munich is the capital city, in the 19th century, and remain common in Southern Germany.
