Javier Mar
Javier Mar (born April 11, 1995) is a Mexican racquetball player. Mar is the current two time Pan American Games champion in Men's Doubles with Rodrigo Montoya, first winning gold at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru and then again at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. He's a former International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Champion in Men's Doubles with Montoya, winning that title in 2021. Mar has also won doubles titles on the International Racquetball Tour. Junior years Mar played at the IRF World Junior Championships several times. He won Boys U14 Singles in 2010 in Los Angeles, defeating fellow Mexican Roman Ramos in final, 10–15, 15–9, 11–10. Racquetball
Racquetball is a racquet sport and a team sport played with a hollow rubber ball on an indoor or outdoor court. Joseph Sobek invented the modern sport of racquetball in 1950, adding a stringed racquet to paddleball in order to increase velocity and control. Unlike most racquet sports, such as tennis and badminton, there is no net to hit the ball over, and, unlike squash, no tin (out of bounds area at the bottom of front wall) to hit the ball above. Also, the court's walls, floor, and ceiling are legal playing surfaces, with the exception of court-specific designated hinders being out-of-bounds. Racquetball is played between various players on a team who try to bounce the ball with the racquet onto the ground so it hits the wall, so that an opposing team’s player cannot bounce it back to the wall. The Pan American Games, known as the Pan Am Games, is a continental multi-sport event in the Americas. It features thousands of athletes participating in competitions to win different summer sports. Jake Bredenbeck
Jake Bredenbeck (born September 27, 1991) is an American racquetball player. Bredenbeck was part of Team USA that won gold at the 2024 Racquetball World Championships in San Antonio, Texas. He's a four time USA Racquetball (USAR) National Champion: three times in Men's Singles and once in Men's Doubles. He's also won on the International Racquetball Tour. Junior and college years Bredenbeck played extensively as a junior and with some success. In 2004, he won Boys U12 Doubles with Taylor Knoth, who he would play doubles with throughout his junior years. They repeated as champions in 2006, when they won Boys U14. That year Bredenbeck lost in the Round of 16 of Boys U14 Singles. Andrés Acuña (born September 11, 1995) is a Costa Rican racquetball player. He is the current World Games champion in racquetball, winning gold at the 2022 World Games, in Birmingham, Alabama. Acuña is a former Pan American Champion in Men's Doubles (with Gabriel Garcia), winning the title in 2024 in Guatemala City. He was runner up at the 2021 International Racquetball Federation (IRF 2021 Racquetball World Championships - Men's Singles, 2021 World Championships in Men's Singles in Guatemala. Coby Iwaasa (born June 19, 1996) is a Canadian racquetball player. He is the currenInternational Racquetball Federation(IRF) World Champion in Men's Doubles, winning the title with Samuel Murray in 2024. Previously, Iwaasa and Murray won the 2022 Pan American Championships Men's Doubles title, and he won two silver medals at the Racquetball at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago. Junior competitions Iwaasa was a prodigious player as a junior, winning several Canadian Junior National Championships (Junior Nationals), including four Boy's U18 titles, which is a record. Conrrado Moscoso (born September 26, 1995) is a Bolivian racquetball player. He is a formeInternational Racquetball Federation(IRF) Men's Singles World Champion, which he won at the 2022 Racquetball World Championships in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Moscoso is the first Bolivian and first South American man to win an IRF World Championship in singles. Moscoso is also the current Pan American Champion in Men's Doubles and the Men's Team event, which are his sixth and seventh Pan American titles. International Racquetball Tour
The International Racquetball Tour (IRT) is the leading professional racquetball organization for men's competition. It was founded in 1991 and is the successor to previous iterations of the tour by different names. Professional Men's racquetball events have been offered since 1973. Events are played mostly in the USA. Mike Grisz became chief executive officer of the IRT in January 2019. He succeeded John Scott, who became chief executive officer in June 2017, when the IRT was taken over by E.J. Promotions Inc. Previously, Jason Mannino, a former pro player, served as IRT President., who succeeded Dave Negrete in 2009. Negrete was Commissioner from 2001 to 2009. 2023 Pan American Games
The 2023 Pan American Games (), officially the XIX Pan American Games () and commonly known as Santiago 2023, were an international multi-sport event governed by the Panam Sports Organization, held in Santiago, Chile from 20 October to 5 November 2023; preliminary rounds in certain events began on 18 October 2023.
