Windward Islands Women's Cricket Team
The Windward Islands women's cricket team is the women's cricket team representing the member countries of the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control: Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. They compete in the Women's Super50 Cup and the Twenty20 Blaze. Until 2014, the countries that make up the Windward Islands competed separately in the two competitions. The formation of the team was announced in March 2022, aligned with the equivalent men's team, playing their first match in August 2022. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Cricket West Indies (CWI) is the governing body for cricket in the West Indies (a sporting confederation of over a dozen mainly Commonwealth Caribbean, English-speaking Caribbean countries and dependencies that once formed the British West Indies). The Pakistan women's cricket team toured the West Indies to play the West Indies women's cricket team in June and July 2021. The tour consisted of three Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) and five Women's One Day International (WODI) matches.
