Barbados Royals (WCPL)
The Barbados Royals are a women's cricket team that compete in the Women's Caribbean Premier League and The 6ixty, representing Barbados. The formation of the team was announced in March 2022, aligned with the equivalent men's team, playing their first match in August 2022. The team's first squad was announced in June 2022, with the side captained by Hayley Matthews. The side won the inaugural edition of The 6ixty. History On 14 March 2022, Cricket West Indies announced their intention to hold the first Women's Caribbean Premier League, to run alongside the men's tournament, which began in 2013. Barbados Royals were one of three teams announced to be taking part in the tournament, aligned with one of the men's teams. Hayley Matthews
Hayley Kristen Matthews (born 19 March 1998) is a Barbadian sportswoman. She plays international cricket for the West Indies as an all-rounder, batting right-handed and bowling right-arm off break. She plays domestic cricket for Barbados, Barbados Royals and Melbourne Renegades, and has previously played for Tasmania, Lancashire Thunder, Southern Vipers, Loughborough Lightning, Velocity and Hobart Hurricanes. She has also represented Barbados in the javelin throw at several international track and field competitions. Off Spin
Off spin is a type of finger spin bowling in cricket. A bowler who uses this technique is called an off spinner. Off spinners are right-handed spin bowlers who use their fingers to spin the ball. Their normal delivery is an off break, which spins from left to right (from the bowler's perspective) when the ball bounces on the pitch. For a right-handed batsman, this is from his off side to the leg side (that is, towards the right-handed batsman, or away from a left-handed batsman). Cricket In Barbados
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Barbados Women's National Cricket Team
The Barbados women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team of the country of Barbados. They compete in the Women's Super50 Cup and the Twenty20 Blaze. They have won four Super50 Cup titles and two Twenty20 Blaze titles. In 2022, the team competed at the Commonwealth Games, playing three Twenty20 Internationals. History Barbados joined the West Indies domestic structure for its inaugural season in 1975–76, playing in the Federation Championships. Leg Spin
Leg spin is a type of spin bowling in cricket. A leg spinner bowls right-arm with a wrist spin action. The leg spinner's normal delivery causes the ball to spin from right to left (from the bowler's perspective) when the ball bounces on the pitch. For a right-handed batsman, that is away from the leg side, and this is where it gets the name leg break.
