Jannis Panagiotidis
Jannis Panagiotidis is a German historian specializing in Migration Studies and the history of Russia Germans. Since August 2020, he is the Scientific Director at the Research Center for the History of Transformations (RECET) at the University of Vienna. Early life and education Jannis Panagiotidis studied Eastern European History and International Relations at the University of Tübingen and the University of Athens, receiving a PhD in 2012 from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. His dissertation “Laws of Return? Co-Ethnic Immigration to West Germany and Israel (1948-1992)”, was supervised by the later holder of the Wittgenstein Award Philipp Ther. The European University Institute (EUI) is an international postgraduate and post-doctoral research-intensive university and an intergovernmental organisation with juridical personality, established by its founding member states to contribute to cultural and scientific development in the social sciences, in a European perspective. History The roots of the company go back to 1749 when Frederick the Great granted the Königliche Realschule in Berlin the royal privilege to open a bookstore and "to publish good and useful books".
