Janne Jaakkola
Janne Alpertti Jaakkola (born 17 July 1967 in Vehmaa) is a Finnish people, Finnish general, appointed to serve as the Chief of Defence (Finland), Chief of Defence and commander of the Finnish Defence Forces from 1 April 2024. Jaakkola was first commissioned in 1990, and was promoted to captain in 1994, major in 2000, colonel in 2014, brigadier general in 2017, and a full general in 2024. Early life and education Jaakkola was born in Vehmaa on 17 July 1967. He graduated high school at the Tuurepori Upper Secondary School before becoming a graduate of Finland's National Defence University (Finland), National Defence University in 1990, where he finished at the top of his class, with the most senior Cadet#Finland, Cadet rank of ''Kadettivääpeli''. Vehmaa
Vehmaa (; ) is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Southwest Finland region. The municipality has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . The municipality is unilingually Finnish. Vehmaa is known of their red Granite Balmoral red, as well as being the birthplace of Albin Stenroos who won the gold medal in the marathon at the 1924 Olympics. According to Traficom, Vehmaa is the fifth most motorized municipality in Finland with 628 cars per 1000 inhabitants. Vehmaa Church The stone church of Vehmaa was probably built between 1425–1440, and it's one of the oldest still existing churches in Western Finland. Timo Kivinen
Timo Pekka Kivinen (born 8 December 1959) is a Finnish general who served as the Chief of Defence 2019–2024. Kivinen began his career as a dragoon, and was eventually promoted to Brigade Commander of the Karelia Brigade in 2011, Deputy Chief of Staff, Strategy in 2015 and Chief of Defence Command Finland in 2017. Career Kivinen entered military service in the Finnish Army in 1977, and completed various courses at home and abroad, including the US Army Airborne and Ranger Courses in 1983, the Infantry Captain Course and the United Nation Staff Officer Course in Sweden in 1996, the International Visitors Programme in the US in 2003, the National Defence Course in 2006, the High Command Course in 2007 and the Flag Officers and Ambassadors Course, NATO Defence College 2012. Sauli Väinämö Niinistö (, born 24 August 1948) is a Finnish politician who served as the 12th president of Finland from 2012 to 2024.
