Jane Figueiredo
Jane Ann Figueiredo (born 18 December 1963) is a Zimbabwean diving coach. She is best known for coaching 2020 Tokyo Olympics men's 10 m synchro champions Tom Daley and Matty Lee, and the 2000 Sydney Olympics women's 3 m springboard champions Vera Ilyina and Yulia Pakhalina. She was head diving coach at the University of Houston from 1990 to 2014, during which time she was awarded the NCAA Diving Coach of the Year four times, and members of her team won a total of 51 CSCAA All-America honours and eight NCAA championships. She was assistant coach to the British Olympic team in 1996, assistant coach for the Russian Olympic team between 2000 and 2008, and was head diving coach for the British Olympic team from 2014 to 2025. Diving is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a Diving platform, platform or springboard, usually while performing acrobatics. Diving is an internationally recognised sport that is part of the Olympic Games. In addition, unstructured and non-competitive diving is a recreational pastime. Competitors possess many of the same characteristics as gymnastics, gymnasts and dancers, including strength, flexibility, kinaesthetic judgement and air awareness. Diving competitions at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics were held from August 10 to August 23, at the Beijing National Aquatics Centre. Competition format The following events were contested by both men and women in Beijing: *3m Springboard Synchronized *10m Platform Synchronized *3m Springboard *10m Platform Individual events consisted of preliminaries, semifinals and finals. The order of divers in the preliminary round were determined by computerized random selection, during the Technical Meeting. The 18 divers with the highest scores in the preliminaries proceeded to the semifinals. Diving At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Synchronized 3 Metre Springboard
Women's synchronized 3 metre springboard competition at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics was held on 10 August at the Beijing National Aquatics Center. As in all other synchronized diving competitions at the Olympics, a single round of competition was held. Eight pairs of divers competed. Each pair performed five dives, with both divers from the pair jumping at the same time. Nine judges evaluated each dive, with two each judging the performance of the two divers (the execution judges) and five judges evaluating the synchronization of the pair (the synchronization judges). For each dive, four of the nine scores are ignored—the highest and lowest execution scores, and the highest and lowest synchronization scores. The remaining five scores are summed, multiplied by the dive's degree of difficulty, and then multiplied by 0.6 to get the final score for the dive. Anastasia Yuryevna Pozdnyakova (; born 11 December 1985) is a Russian diver. Pozdniakova competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal with her partner Yuliya Pakhalina in the 3m Synchronized Springboard. Biography She is the daughter of Tatiana and Uriy Pozdniakova. She was born in the Moscow suburb of Elektrostal, in Moscow Oblast, Russian SFSR, in the Soviet Union. She started diving when she was seven years old. Pozdnyakova lives in Houston, Texas, United States. She competed for the University of Houston's diving team as she attended the school as an art history major in 2006-10. She was named the 2007 Conference USA 3-meter diving champion. The women's synchronized 3 metre springboard was one of eight diving events included in the Diving at the 2000 Summer Olympics programme and one of the four new events added for the 2000 games since a change was made in 1924. The competition was held as an outright final: ;''Final'': 23 September — Each pair of divers performed five dives freely chosen from the five diving groups, with two dives limited to a 2.0 degree of difficulty and the others without limitation. Olivia Clark (born 30 August 2001) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Women's Super League club Leicester City and the Wales national team. The Houston Cougars are the athletic teams representing the University of Houston. Informally, the Houston Cougars have also been referred to as the Coogs, UH, or simply Houston. Houston's nickname was suggested by early physical education instructor of the university and former head football coach, John R.
