Janaklal Sharma is a Nepalese author. He was born in Ilam District in 1983 BS Baishakh 17. He won Madan Puraskar in the 2020 BS for the book ''Josmani Santa Parampara ra Sahitya'' (जोसमनी सन्त परम्परा र साहित्य). He has also won Sajha Puraskar in 2042 BS for the book ''Hamro Samaj: Ek Adhyan'' (हाम्रो समाज: एक अध्ययन). He is the author of numerous books on Nepalese literature, arts, culture, travel etc. He is an honorary member of the Nepal Academy. Ilam District
Ilam district ( ne, इलाम जिल्ला) is one of 14 districts of Province No. 1 of eastern Nepal. It is a Hill district and covers . The 2011 census counted 290,254 population. The municipality of Ilam is the district headquarters and is about from Kathmandu. The Madan Puraskar ( ne, मदन पुरस्कार) is a literary honor in Nepal which Madan Puraskar Guthi confers annually for an outstanding book in the Nepali language published within the calendar year. It is considered the most prestigious literature award in Nepal. It is awarded on the day of Ghatasthapana every year alongside Jagadamba Shree Puraskar. History The award was established by daughter in law of Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher JBR, Queen Jagadamba Kumari Devi, in memory of her husband late General Madan Shumsher JBR, on 26 September 1955.
