Jamuna Cantonment (officially known as Bangabandhu Cantonment) is a Bangladeshi military cantonment near Bangabandhu Bridge in Bhuapur Upazila, Tangail District, Bangladesh. The cantonment has been named in line with the name of Bangabandhu Bridge. Bhuapur Upazila
Bhuyanpur ( bn, ভূঞাপুর) is an upazila of Tangail District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Geography Bhuapur is located at . It has 32145 households and total area of 225.02 km2. The upazila is surrounded by Gopalpur & Sarishabari Upazila on the north, Kalihati Upazila on the south, Gopalpur and Ghatail Upazila on the east, and the Jamuna River on the west. Demographics At the 1991 census Bhuapur had a population of 177,095, of whom 87,854 were aged 18 or older. Males constituted 51.65% of the population, and females 48.35%. Bhuyanpur had an average literacy rate of 29.9% (7+ years), against the national average of 32.4%. Tangail ( bn, টাঙ্গাইল জেলা) formerly a small Mohokuma of Greater Mymensingh district is a district (''zila'') in the central region of Bangladesh. In 1969, Tangail district was created by Tangail Mohokuma from its 237 square kilometers of its land and 3177 square kilometers of land from Mymensingh Sadar Upazila, Mymensingh district. Bangabandhu Bridge, also known as the Jamuna Multi-purpose Bridge ( bn, যমুনা বহুমুখী সেতু ''Jomuna Bohumukhi Setu'') is a bridge opened in Bangladesh in June 1998. It connects Bhuapur on the Jamuna River's east bank to Sirajganj on its west bank. North Bengal ( bn, উত্তরবঙ্গ/উত্তর বাংলা) is a term used for the north-western part of Bangladesh and northern part of West Bengal. The Jamuna River ( bn, যমুনা ''Jomuna'') is one of the three main rivers of Bangladesh. It is the lower stream of the Brahmaputra River, which originates in Tibet as Yarlung Tsangpo, before flowing into India and then southwest into Bangladesh.
