Jamil Khir Baharom
Jamil Khir bin Baharom ( Jawi: جميل خير بن بهرام) is a Malaysian politician and former military officer who has served as Chairman of Ex-Serviceman Affairs Corporation since February 2021. He served as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of religious affairs from April 2009 to the collapse of the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration in May 2018 the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jerai from May 2013 to May 2018, Senator from April 2009 to May 2013. He was a major general in the Kor Agama Angkatan Tentera of the Malaysian Army. Biography Jamil Khir obtained his Bachelor of Sharia from the University of Malaya in 1986 and Master in Islamic Studies from the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences, Cordoba University in Virginia in 2000. The Military Religious Corps (, KAGAT) is a Muslim chaplain service of the Malaysian Army. History Kor Agama Angkatan Tentera (KAGAT) was officially formed on 19 April 1985, as the 16th corps of the Malaysian Army. Unique among corps of the Malaysian Army, KAGAT is a joint service formation serving all the serving men and women of the Malaysian Armed Forces, and not limited to the just the Malaysian Army, whether be Muslim or Christian alike. 2013 Malaysian General Election
General elections were held in Malaysia on Sunday, 5 May 2013. Voting took place in all 222 parliamentary constituencies, each electing one MP to the Dewan Rakyat, the dominant house of Parliament. State elections also took place in 505 state constituencies in 12 of the 13 states (excluding Sarawak) on the same day. The elections were the first since Najib Razak became Prime Minister in 2009. The unofficial opposition Pakatan Rakyat coalition led by Anwar Ibrahim received a majority of the vote, with its three member parties collectively receiving 50.9% of the vote. However, they won only 89 of the 222 seats. The incumbent governing alliance, Barisan Nasional, received 47.4% of the vote and won 133 seats, giving Najib a second term in office.
