Jamie Smith (curler)
Jamie Smith (born February 14, 2001) is a Canadian curler from Sudbury, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Isabelle Ladouceur. In 2022, she played third for the Canadian junior team at the 2022 World Junior Curling Championships. Career Smith made her first national appearance at the 2018 Canadian U18 Curling Championships after posting an 8–0 record at the 2018 U18 Northern Ontario Girls Provincial with the Bella Croisier rink. The rink would go on to post a 4–2 round robin record, but would fail to carry momentum into the championship round and would drop their next two games, missing the playoffs. In 2019 Smith would once again reach the national stage this time at the 2019 Canada Winter Games. After finishing first in the round robin with a 9–1 record, the rink would advance directly to the semi-final where they would defeat Nova Scotia's Cally Moore 6–5 and then go on to capture the gold medal after defeating Manitoba's Hayley Bergman 8–3. Sudbury, Ontario
Sudbury, officially the City of Greater Sudbury is the largest city in Northern Ontario by population, with a population of 166,004 at the 2021 Canadian Census. 2022 World Junior Curling Championships
The 2022 World Junior Curling Championships were held from May 15 to 22 at the Jönköping Curling Club in Jönköping, Sweden. The event was originally scheduled to be held March 5 to 12, however, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden. It was the final World Curling Federation event held during the 2021–22 curling season. Medallists Men Qualification The following nations qualified to participate in the 2022 World Junior Curling Championship: World Junior-B cancellation The 2022 World Junior-B Curling Championships were intended to be held from January 3 to 14 to qualify the final three nations for the World Junior Curling Championships. However, on January 6, the World Curling Federation was forced to cancel the event due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases. Kelly Middaugh (born August 2, 1999) is a Canadian curler from Victoria Harbour, Ontario. She currently plays lead on Team Laurie St-Georges. Career While attending Wilfrid Laurier University, Middaugh competed in two U Sports/Curling Canada University Curling Championships. In 2018, as second for the team skipped by Kaitlin Jewer, they finished with a 3–4 round robin record, failing to advance to the playoffs. At the 2020 U Sports/Curling Canada University Curling Championships, the team, led by Isabelle Ladouceur, finished in sixth place with a 2–5 record. During the 2018–19 season, Middaugh played lead for the Emma Wallingford rink. The team competed in one women's event, the Royal LePage Women's Fall Classic, where they were able to find success. Lauren Rajala (born September 30, 2002 in Garson, Ontario) is a Canadian curler. She was Canada's flag bearer at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics. Early life Rajala began curling at the age of 7 with her father, Brian at the Falconbridge Curling Club. Career Junior career Rajala is a three-time Northern Ontario U18 champion and a two-time U21 (Junior) champion. She won U18 titles on teams skipped by Bella Croisier in 2018, 2019 and 2020. The Croisier rink also played in the 2018 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, where they lost all four of their matches.
