Lauren Rajala
Lauren Rajala (born September 30, 2002 in Garson, Ontario) is a Canadian curler. She currently plays lead on Team Emma Artichuk. She was Canada's flag bearer at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics. Early life Rajala began curling at the age of 7 with her father, Brian at the Falconbridge Curling Club. Career Junior career Rajala is a three-time Northern Ontario U18 champion and a two-time U21 (Junior) champion. She won U18 titles on teams skipped by Bella Croisier in 2018, 2019 and 2020. The Croisier rink also played in the 2018 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, where they lost all four of their matches. Their win at the 2018 U18 Northern Ontario championship qualified them to represent the region at the 2018 Canadian U18 Curling Championships. There, the team went 4–3. Garson, Ontario
Nickel Centre (1996 census population 13,017) was a town in Ontario, Canada, which existed from 1973 to 2000. It was created as part of the Regional Municipality of Sudbury. On January 1, 2001, the town and the Regional Municipality were dissolved and amalgamated into the city of Greater Sudbury. 2022 Canadian Junior Curling Championships
The 2022 New Holland Canadian Junior Curling Championships was held from March 26 to April 1 at the Stratford Rotary Complex in Stratford, Ontario. The winning teams represented Canada at the 2023 World Junior Curling Championships in Füssen, Germany. This was the second time Stratford hosted the Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The first was in 2016 when Manitoba's Matt Dunstone and Nova Scotia's Mary Fay took home the titles. The 2022 event featured eighteen teams on both the men's and women's sides, each split into two pools of nine. The top three teams from each pool at the end of the round robin advanced to the playoff round. The 2022 World Junior Curling Championships were held from May 15 to 22 at the Jönköping Curling Club in Jönköping, Sweden. The event was originally scheduled to be held March 5 to 12, however, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden. Canadian Junior Curling Championships
The Canadian Under-20 Curling Championships, more commonly known as the Canadian Junior Curling Championships, is an annual curling tournament held to determine the best youth curling team in Canada. Junior level curlers must be under the age of 21 as of June 30 in the year prior to the tournament. The event began in 1950 as the National Schoolboys Championship, and all members of a team had to attend the same high school. Efforts to establish the event were led by Ken Watson, Maurice Smith and others. From 1950 to 1957, teams played for the Victor Sifton Trophy. Sifton's newspaper chain was the sponsor of the event during this time. From 1958 to 1975 the event was sponsored by Pepsi and was known as the Pepsi Schoolboys, becoming the Pepsi Juniors in 1976. Isabelle Ladouceur (born October 17, 2000) is a Canadian curler. She is a former Canadian U18 champion, and skipped the Canadian junior team at the 2021 World Junior Curling Championships. Career Junior Ladouceur played in the 2016 Nova Scotia Junior Championships, losing in the final to Mary Fay. At the 2017 and 2018 provincial juniors, her team failed to make the playoffs. In 2018, Ladouceur and her U-18 team of Emilie Proulx, Makayla Harnish, Elsa Nauss and Kate Callaghan became the youngest ever team to qualify for the Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts, as the age limit was eliminated two years prior. Curling At The 2020 Winter Youth Olympics – Mixed Doubles
Mixed doubles curling at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics was held from 18 to 22 January at the Palladium de Champéry in Champéry, Switzerland. Teams The teams will consist of athletes from the mixed team tournament, one boy and one girl from different NOCs. The teams will be selected by the organizing committee based on the final ranking from the mixed team competition in a way that balances out the teams. Nathan Young (curler)
Nathan Young (born November 18, 2002) is a Canadian curler from Torbay, Newfoundland and Labrador. He currently skips his own team on the World Curling Tour. Career Young and his team have been competing together from a very young age. It was in 2015 when the rink claimed their first provincial championship in the U16 NLCA Provincials. From that point on it would be a few more years until the quartet won another provincial championship as they went straight up into competing with the U18 age group afterwards. In 2020, Young won his first provincial championship in the U18 category. Alongside Joel Krats who they picked up for the tournament due to Ben Stringer being aged out, they beat Team Liam Quinlan 8–1 in the finals to qualify for the Canadian U18 Curling Championships which was subsequently cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
