James Crossley (bodybuilder)
James Crossley (born 1973/1974) is an English bodybuilder and television personality. He appeared as Hunter in the sports entertainment series ''Gladiators'' from 1993 to 2000. Most recently he appeared in the third series of the Channel 4 reality series '' The Circle''. Life and career Crossley appeared in the ITV game show ''Gladiators'' as “Hunter” for 7 years from 1993 to the shows final episode on 1 January 2000. Often regarded by contenders as the shows most formidable Gladiator this was proven when he was crowned The Ultimate Gladiator after a showdown with the other male UK Gladiators in The Battle Of The Giants special in the shows penultimate final episode. While appearing on the series, he dislocated his shoulder six times. ''Gladiators'' is a British television sports entertainment game show. An adaptation of the American programme and its format, '' American Gladiators'', and was produced by LWT for ITV and broadcast from 10 October 1992 to 1 January 2000. The programme's format sees four contestants, two male and two female, compete in a series of physical events against the show's "Gladiators", eventually competing in one final event, with contestants aiming to secure a place in the grand final and be crowned champion for their respective series. There were no prizes awarded to the winner in any episode, until the final. ''The Circle'', sometimes called ''The Circle UK'', is a British reality television game show and the original version of ''The Circle'' franchise. Produced by Studio Lambert and Motion Content Group and airing on Channel 4, the show bills itself as a game based around social media, with the concept that "anyone can be anyone in The Circle". Throughout the show, contestants live in the same apartment building but are never allowed to meet. The show is narrated by Sophie Willan, whilst the first and last episode of the first series were hosted by Maya Jama and Alice Levine (later replaced by Emma Willis from the second series onwards). The Circle (British Series 3)
The third and final series of '' The Circle'' began airing on Channel 4 on 16 March 2021, hosted by Emma Willis, and concluded on 9 April 2021 following twenty-one episodes. The series premiered after the conclusion of '' The Celebrity Circle''. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the series was pre-recorded from 13 September 2020 to 6 October 2020. On 9 April 2021, the series was won by Natalya Platonova, who had played the game catfishing as "Felix", a 29-year-old Paratrooper. Manrika Khaira was the runner-up of the series. Both players finished joint-first in the final ratings, but due to Natalya receiving the most top ranks, she was crowned overall winner. In a change from previous series, there was no viewers winner. Gladiators (2008 British TV Series)
''Gladiators'' is a British television series which aired on Sky One (now Sky Max) from 11 May 2008 to 25 October 2009. It was a revival of the earlier series of the same name and based on the American version of the show. The US, UK and Australian versions of the show were all revived in 2008. For the first series, the show was hosted by Ian Wright and Kirsty Gallacher with original Referee John Anderson returning. For the second series Ian Wright was joined by Caroline Flack due to Kirsty Gallacher not wanting to return. Another change was the removal of John Anderson due to the producers wanting to give the show its own feel and cut ties with the original series. He was replaced by well known boxing referee John Coyle for series two. The winners of the series each earned £50,000. Dinnie Stones
The Dinnie Stones (also called Stanes or Steens) are a pair of Scottish lifting stones located in Potarch, Aberdeenshire. They were made famous by strongman Donald Dinnie, who reportedly carried the stones barehanded across the width of the Potarch Bridge, a distance of , in 1860. They remain in use as lifting stones. The stones are composed of granite, with iron rings affixed. They have a combined weight of , with the larger stone weighing and the smaller stone weighing .
