James Conner (general)
James Conner (September 1, 1829 – June 26, 1883), was a Confederate States Army brigadier-general during the American Civil War. He was a lawyer in South Carolina both before and after the war and was elected Attorney General of South Carolina in 1876. Early life James Conner was born on September 1, 1829, in Charleston, South Carolina. Conner was Presbyterian and remarked that he identified with "Ulster" which was an archaic name for what is today known as Northern Ireland. Conner was born in Charleston, South Carolina, Charleston, as were both of his parents, all four of his grandparents were Presbyterians of Scottish descent from Ballymena, Ireland in what is today Northern Ireland. After graduating from that state's University of South Carolina, College in 1849, he studied law and practiced it in Charleston. James Perry Conner (January 27, 1851 – March 19, 1924) was a Republican U.S. Representative from Iowa's 10th congressional district from 1900 to 1909. Background Born in Delaware County, Indiana, Conner attended the Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1873. He was admitted to the bar and practiced in Denison, Iowa. He served as district attorney of the thirteenth judicial district of Iowa from 1880 to 1884. James Connor (born 1867 – 1929) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest. (registration & fee required) Early career In 1888, Connor signed for Warwick County, an association football off-shoot of Warwickshire CCC. However, due to its proximity to the City of Birmingham the club could not compete with clubs like Aston Villa, for whom Connor signed in 1889. Football League career Connor played one game in his first season at Wellington Road, the then home of Aston Villa, on 25 January 1890. Connor played left-half against Bolton Wanderers, a match which Villa lost 2–1. James Phillip Connor
James Phillip Connor (January 12, 1919 – July 27, 1994) was a sergeant in the United States Army who received the Medal of Honor after leading a platoon of 36 men attached to the 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division against German positions, defended by snipers and machine gun nests, at Cape Cavalaire, France on August 15, 1944. Seriously wounded in the course of the assault, the third suffered while on active duty, he continued to fight alongside his men until his injuries forced him to stand down (although he continued to direct the assault). Although losing one-third of his platoon, Connor's men were successfully able to outflank the enemy killing seven German soldiers and capturing forty more as well as taking a considerable amount of supplies including three machine guns. James Earl Conner (born May 5, 1995) is an American football running back for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Pittsburgh, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. James Connor (born 5 May 1995) is an Australian diver. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's 10 metre platform event, failing to advance to the semi-finals after classifying 20th in the preliminaries. James began his diving career at the age of 8, at the Ringwood Aquatic Centre, and is a member of the Gannets Diving Club. His more notable results include a gold medal at the 2011 Australian Swimming Championships in the 10 m synchro event with his partner Ethan Warren; as well as becoming a centurion at the Rage in 2017. He also won a silver in the 3 m synchro and a bronze in the 3 m individual springboard on the same occasion. Connor also participated in the 2010 Commonwealth Games where he finished 9th in the 10 metre platform. James also won first place in the 10m platform at the 2009 British Elite Junior Championships, and second in the 3m springboard at the same event.
