Jamaica Central Railways
Jamaica Buses, Inc., also known as Jamaica Bus Lines or the Jamaica Bus Company, was a bus company in New York City, New York, operating local service in Queens and express service to Manhattan until January 30, 2006, when the MTA Bus Company took over its operations. The president of Jamaica Buses, and GTJ Reit Inc. was the late Jerome Cooper (August 14, 1928 – May 20, 2015, aged 86). Its facility was located on 114-15 Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in South Jamaica, Queens. From 1954 to 1995, Jamaica Buses, also provided charter services. History After the bankruptcy of the Long Island Electric Railway in 1926, the company's trolley lines in Nassau County were disestablished, however the ones in Queens survived, and the company was reorganized as the Jamaica Central Railways. MTA Bus
MTA Regional Bus Operations (RBO) is the bus operations division of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City. The MTA operates local, limited-stop, express, and Select Bus Service ( bus rapid transit) services across the city of New York, forming a key part of the city's transportation system. The system's fleet of over 5,000 buses is the largest in the United States, and many of its over 300 routes operate 24/7. MTA Regional Bus Operations was formed in 2008 to consolidate the MTA's bus operations, which currently consist of two operating companies. MTA New York City Bus operates citywide, with its origins in New York City's first municipal bus service in 1919. The Parsons Boulevard station is an express metro station, station on the IND Queens Boulevard Line of the New York City Subway. Baisley Park Bus Depot
MTA Regional Bus Operations operates local and express buses serving New York City in the United States out of 27 bus depots. These depots are located in all five boroughs of the city, plus one located in nearby Yonkers in Westchester County. 19 of these depots serve MTA New York City Transit (NYCT)'s bus operations, while the remaining eight serve the MTA Bus Company (the successor to private bus operations taken over around 2006.) These facilities perform regular maintenance, cleaning, and painting of buses, as well as collection of revenue from bus fareboxes. Several of these depots were once car barns for streetcars, while others were built much later and have only served buses. Green Bus Lines
Green Bus Lines, also referred to as Green Lines, was a private bus company in New York City. It operated local service in Queens and express service to Manhattan until January 9, 2006, when the city-operated MTA Bus Company took over its routes. It was managed most recently by Jerome Cooper (1928–2015). Green Bus Lines routes primarily operated in the Jamaica, Ozone Park, Howard Beach, South Jamaica, and the Rockaways areas of Queens, along with service to the passenger and cargo areas of John F. Kennedy International Airport. At the time of its closure, Green Lines operated more local and limited bus routes than any other private company in the city. Stockholders of Green Bus Lines also held control of other private bus companies in Queens and Brooklyn as Transit Alliance.
