Jacob Wooten
Jacob Wooten (born 22 April 1997) is an American pole vaulter. He was the runner-up at the 2023 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the pole vault. Biography Wooten is from Tomball, Texas where he attended Tomball Memorial High School. He won the 2014 University Interscholastic League Division 5A state meet in the pole vault, as well as the 2015 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships. From 2016 to 2019, Wooten competed on the Texas A&M Aggies track and field team. He made seven NCAA finals appearances, with a best finish of 3rd at the 2019 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. At those championships, the meet officials mistakenly set the bar two inches too high, causing confusion and requiring a re-do of that round of vaulting. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. Toby Stevenson (athlete)
Toby "Crash" Stevenson (born November 19, 1976, in Odessa, Texas) is an Olympic class pole vaulter from the United States. He is known for being the only pole vaulter in the international elite to wear a helmet during jumps. Biography While attending Permian High School, Stevenson set 24 high school records, taking three district championships, and winning the state title in 1995, when he was also the top-ranked 18-year-old pole vaulter in the world. Stevenson later went on to graduate from Stanford University. He currently coaches pole vault and multi-event athletes, at the University of Washington. Among the athletes he has coached is 2016 Olympic Champion Ekaterini Stefanidi. Since the fall of 2002, Stevenson has been a resident athlete at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. Pat Henry (athletics Coach)
Pat Henry (born July 22, 1951) is the current track and field coach at Texas A&M University. He is also the former track and field coach at Louisiana State University (LSU) where he won 27 national championships. Coaching career Henry began his coaching career at Hobbs (NM) High School, where he led his teams to five state championships. In 1983, he moved to Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Only three years after taking over the program, he won his first of two consecutive National Junior College National Titles. In 1987, he was hired by LSU for the track and field and cross country teams. In his first year at LSU, he won a national championship, three SEC titles and earned two conference Coach of the Year awards. Henry won 27 national titles, 19 SEC titles, 15 SEC Coach of the Year awards and five National Coach of the Year honors at LSU. Pole Vault
Pole vaulting, also known as pole jumping, is a track and field event in which an athlete uses a long and flexible pole, usually made from fiberglass or carbon fiber, as an aid to jump over a bar. Pole jumping competitions were known to the Mycenaean Greeks, Minoan Greeks and Celts. It has been a full medal event at the Olympic Games since 1896 for men and since 2000 for women. It is typically classified as one of the four major jumping events in athletics, alongside the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Texas A&M Aggies Track And Field
Texas A&M Aggies refers to the students, graduates, and sports teams of Texas A&M University. The nickname " Aggie" was once common at land-grant or "ag" (agriculture) schools in many states. The teams are also referred to as "A&M" or "Texas Aggies," and the official school colors are maroon and white. The mascot is a rough collie named Reveille. The sports teams compete in Division I of the NCAA. Until the dissolution of the Southwest Conference, Texas A&M was a charter member of that conference.
