Pat Henry (athletics Coach)
Pat Henry (born July 22, 1951) is the current track and field coach at Texas A&M University. He is also the former track and field coach at Louisiana State University (LSU) where he won 27 national championships. Coaching career Henry began his coaching career at Hobbs (NM) High School, where he led his teams to five state championships. In 1983, he moved to Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Only three years after taking over the program, he won his first of two consecutive National Junior College National Titles. In 1987, he was hired by LSU for the track and field and cross country teams. In his first year at LSU, he won a national championship, three SEC titles and earned two conference Coach of the Year awards. Henry won 27 national titles, 19 SEC titles, 15 SEC Coach of the Year awards and five National Coach of the Year honors at LSU. The LSU Tigers cross country program represents Louisiana State University in the sport of men's cross country running. The LSU Lady Tigers track and field team represents Louisiana State University in NCAA Division I women's indoor and outdoor track and field. History The Lady Tiger program began in August 1978. The LSU Lady Tigers track and field program is the premier women's track and field program in the NCAA, winning more NCAA championships than any other school in history. The Lady Tigers have won a total of 25 NCAA championships (11 indoor, 14 outdoor). The closest school is Texas with 10 total championships. Texas A&M Aggies refers to the students, graduates, and sports teams of Texas A&M University. The nickname " Aggie" was once common at land-grant or "ag" (agriculture) schools in many states. The teams are also referred to as "A&M" or "Texas Aggies," and the official school colors are maroon and white. The mascot is a rough collie named Reveille.
