John Davis Gaughan, Sr. (October 24, 1920 – March 12, 2014) was an American casino owner and operator from the early 1950s in Las Vegas, Nevada. Moe Sedway (July 7, 1894 – January 3, 1952) was an American businessman and mobster. He was an associate of Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel and a faithful lieutenant of organized crime czar Meyer Lansky. Gus Greenbaum (February 26, 1893 – December 3, 1958) was an American gangster in the casino industry, best known for taking over management of the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas after the murder of co-founder Bugsy Siegel. Early life Gustave "Gus" Greenbaum was born in Chicago to Jewish immigrant tailor parents Herman Greenbaum and Sarah Goldberger, who initially lived between New York City and Nebraska before settling in Illinois, according to the 1900 census. The Showboat Hotel and Casino, known as the Castaways Hotel and Casino from 2000-2004, was a hotel and casino located at the north end of the Boulder Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. Clarion Hotel and Casino was located near the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada. It included a 12-story hotel with approximately 200 rooms, and a small casino. The property opened as a Royal Inns of America, Royal Inn on April 19, 1970. It was renamed Royal Americana in 1980, and then Paddlewheel in 1983. Actress Debbie Reynolds purchased the property in 1992, and renamed it a year later as the Debbie Reynolds Hotel. The renovated property included a museum featuring Reynolds' collection of Hollywood memorabilia. The hotel struggled financially, entering bankruptcy in 1997.
