Jack Yabsley
Jack Yabsley is an Australian filmmaker and former television presenter. He has worked extensively in children's television and documentary. Education Yabsley attended Kiama High School, Coonabarabran Public School, and Middleton Primary School in Parkes. He studied broadcast journalism at Charles Sturt University, in Bathurst, and completed a postgraduate degree in Screen Directing at AFTRS, Sydney. Career Television Yabsley's television career started as a presenter on ''Totally Wild'' on Network Ten, where he hosted over 100 episodes from 2004 to 2006. He then moved to the Seven Network, where he was a host on Saturday Disney on Australia's from 3 February 2007 until 2011. He then became host of the game show ''Match It'', also on Seven, from 2012. He has been an occasional reporter for '' Sydney Weekender'' on the Seven Network. ''Sydney Weekender'' is an Australian travel show featuring destinations throughout the state of New South Wales. The program debuted in 1994 on Saturdays at 5:30pm, later moving to Sundays at the same time before the local nightly news bulletin. It is hosted by Matt Shirvington and airs on the Seven Network in New South Wales and nationally on 7Two. The program visits various locations in the state highlighting activities, attractions, and dining options. ''Sydney Weekender'' reached a milestone of 750 episodes on 18 August 2012. The series has spawned spin-offs including '' Melbourne Weekender''. Many of the locations featured in the program have a commercial arrangement whereby they have bought advertisements or paid to be featured in an episode. ''Gogglebox Australia'' is an Australian reality television program. It is an adaptation of the British series of the same name. The series, which is produced by Shine Australia, is a co-production between subscription television (STV) channel Lifestyle (owned by Foxtel) and free-to-air (FTA) network Network 10. It airs on Lifestyle first, and then airs on Network 10 a day later. Production The concept of ''Gogglebox Australia'' is based on the 2013 British reality show ''Gogglebox'', in which people watch and comment on the week's popular television shows and films in their own homes. The Antipodean Film Festival (french: Rencontres internationales du cinéma des Antipodes), variously referred to as Festival des Antipodes, Antipodes International Film Festival, Antipodes Film Festival Saint Tropez, Saint Tropez Film Festival and other variations, is a film festival showcasing New Zealand and Australian films, held annually in St Tropez in France since 1999. Flickerfest is an international short film festival held annually in January at Bondi Beach, Sydney. It is an Academy and BAFTA recognised short film festival for both international and Australian film makers. History The festival originated as a small, local festival at Balmain High School in 1991. It has premiered an increasingly broader range of international short films since its establishment. In 2003, Flickerfest was recognised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science to qualify for Best Animation and Best Short Film categories of the Academy Awards. In 2010, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) recognised that if a film from the UK won a category at Flickerfest, the film then became eligible for a BAFTA nomination. Foxtel Arts was a subscription television arts channel available in Australia on the Foxtel platform. History Foxtel Arts replaced the Special Broadcasting Service, SBS owned arts channel Studio (TV channel), Studio, and became the third iteration of a dedicated arts channel on Foxtel in six years. Pike formed Ronin Films, an Australian film distribution company, with his first wife, Dr Merrilyn Fitzpatrick, in 1974.
