ABC ME
ABC Entertains is an Australian free-to-air television channel owned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It was launched on 4 December 2009 as a children's channel called ABC3. It was rebranded on 19 September 2016 to ABC ME. It rebranded once more on 3 June 2024 to ABC Entertains, now focusing on general entertainment programming. History In September 2007, the Australian government announced a proposal to launch a new digital-only children's channel, ABC3. A new ABC channel appeared on television receivers on 11 February 2008, as a placeholder for the future ABC3 channel. ABC3 was considered by the Australia 2020 Summit and given as one of the recommendations to the Government. Freeview is the brand name of the digital terrestrial television platform in Australia intended to bring all of free-to-air (FTA) broadcasters onto a consistent marketing platform, to compete against subscription television, in particular Foxtel. The strategy coincided with the expansion to 3 digital channels for each FTA network and the phasing out of analogue television in Australia. Important services from Freeview include its free-to-air channels with an enhanced EPG (electronic program guide) across all channels. ''Prank Patrol'' (known as ''Prank Patrol: Road Trip'' for its third season, also known as ''Prank Patrol Down Under'' in the UK) is the Australian version of the original Prank Patrol (Canadian TV series), Canadian series ''Prank Patrol''. Scott Tweedie (born 29 January 1988) is an Australian television and radio host, presenter and producer. He previously was in the United States hosting on the E! Network. Tweedie was a network host for Network 10, hosting the hit music television program '' The Loop'' and a reporter on '' Studio 10'' and hosted the children's series '' Prank Patrol'' on the former ABC3 (now ABC Me) channel. ''Studio 3'' was an Australian children's television block, which was premiered on ABC3 along with the channel's launch in 2009. The program premiered on 7 December 2009, originally presented by Amberley Lobo and Kayne Tremills. The block was composed of small hosted segments which serve as links between external programs on the channel. The show was removed when ABC3 rebranded as ABC ME on 19 September 2016. Kayne Tremills (born 23 January 1987) is an Australian television presenter best known for his role as a host on Australian children's television programme Studio 3, which was broadcast on ABC3. Career In 2009, the ABC launched a nationwide campaign, called Me on 3. The goal was to find two faces for a new television channel, ABC3. The competition was entered by 5700 people. Tremills was chosen, along with Amberley Lobo, to host children's show Studio 3. In 2010, he worked on the 2010 Schools Spectacular with co-host Amberley Lobo and John Foreman. Amberley "Ambo" Lobo (born 30 October 1990) is an Australian television presenter, best known for her role as a host on Australian children's television program '' Studio 3'', which was on ABC 3. Early life Lobo was born in Perth, Western Australia, and grew up in South Hedland. Her father is from India and her mother is from New Zealand. Her television career began in 2009 after she was selected from a nationwide search conducted by the ABC. The Australia 2020 Summit was a convention, referred to in Australian media as a summit, which was held over 18–19 April 2008 at Parliament House in Canberra, Australia, aiming to "help shape a long-term strategy for the nation's future". Announced by the new prime minister Kevin Rudd, the summit drew limited bipartisan support from Brendan Nelson and the opposition Coalition parties and ran as 10 working groups of 100 participants. ABC Radio National, more commonly known as Radio National or simply RN, is an Australian nationwide public service radio network run by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). From 1947 until 1985, the network was known as ABC Radio 2.
