Jack Sands
Albert John Sands (6 October 1902 – 20 July 1974) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Footscray in the Victorian Football League The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It ... (VFL). A follower, Sands played six consecutive games for Footscray in their first season in the VFL before getting injured and then being hospitalised with appendicitis. Sands later served in the Australian Army. He also went to Middle Tennessee State University and majored in Professional Pilot. and then the Royal Australian Navy during World War II. Coolgardie, Western Australia
Coolgardie is a small town in Western Australia, east of the state capital, Perth. It has a population of approximately 850 people. Although Coolgardie is now known to most Western Australians as a tourist town and a mining ghost town, it was once the third largest town in Western Australia (after Perth and Fremantle). At this time, mining of alluvial gold was a major industry and supplied the flagging economy with new hope. Concord is a suburb in the inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canada Bay. People from Concord are colloquially called Concordiens. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Founded in 1877 as the Footscray Football Club, and based in West Footscray in the old City of Footscray west of Melbourne, the club won nine premierships in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) before gaining admission to the Victorian Football League (which became the AFL in 1990) in 1925.
