Jack Carter (c. 1902 – November 9, 1967) was an American actor. He is known for creating the role of Crown in the original Broadway production of ''Porgy (play), Porgy'' (1927), and for starring in Orson Welles' stage productions, including ''Voodoo Macbeth, Macbeth'' (1936) and ''Doctor Faustus (play), Doctor Faustus'' (1937). He appeared in a few motion pictures in the 1930s and 1940s. Jack Carter (born Jack Chakrin; June 24, 1922 – June 28, 2015) was an American comedian, actor, and television presenter. Born in Brooklyn, Carter had a long-running comedy act similar to fellow rapid-paced contemporaries Milton Berle and Morey Amsterdam. Life and career Carter was born in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, New York, to Russian Jewish immigrants Anna ( Borofsky) and Harry Chakrin. His parents owned a candy store there where he began to dance on tables at the age of 3. Carter served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. John William Carter (born July 3, 1947) is an American businessman, politician and environmentalist. He is the eldest child of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter. Early life, education and career Carter was born at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia. Raised in Plains, Georgia, he spent winters working at his father's peanut farm warehouse, where his wages began at 10 cents per hour. Carter struggled when he first entered college in 1965, attending Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, and Georgia Southwestern State University. Alfred Edward Lewis (15 January 1940 – 27 March 1982) was a British writer known for his crime fiction. Early life Alfred Edward Lewis was born in Stretford, Manchester and was an only child. In 1946, the family moved to Barton-upon-Humber in Lincolnshire. As a child, Lewis contracted rheumatic fever and spent almost a year away from school in bed rest. During that time he read books and comics and drew constantly. From a young age he was a fan of film, particularly Western epics, B-movies and gangster pictures. He had a strict upbringing and his parents did not want their son to go to art school, but his English teacher Henry Treece, recognising his creative talents in writing and art, persuaded them not to stand in his way. Lewis attended Hull Art School for four years. ''Planetary'' is an American comic book series created by writer Warren Ellis and artist John Cassaday, and published by the Wildstorm imprint of DC Comics. After an initial preview issue in September 1998, the series ran for 27 issues from April 1999 to October 2009. Publication history ''Planetary'' was previewed in issue #33 of '' Gen13'' and issue #6 of ''C-23'', both dated September 1998. The first issue of the series was cover-dated April 1999.
