John Carter (businessman)
John Peter Carter (born May 1961) is a British businessman, appointed in March 2023 as CEO of Stark Building Materials UK. He was chief executive (CEO) of Travis Perkins, the FTSE 250 builders' merchant and home improvement retailer with 1,900 outlets from January 2015 until he stepped down in August 2019. Carter worked for Travis Perkins for 35 years, having joined Sandell Perkins in 1978 as a management trainee. In January 2014, he succeeded Geoff Cooper as CEO. In March 2023, after Saint-Gobain had completed the sale of Jewson to Denmark's Stark Group for £740m, the new owners appointed Carter as CEO of the newly-formed Stark Building Materials UK Ltd. John Rice Carter (born November 6, 1941) is the U.S. representative serving since 2003. He is a Republican. The district includes the northern suburbs of Austin, as well as Fort Cavazos. Early life, education, and career Carter was born in Houston, but has spent most of his life in central Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in history in 1964, and earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in 1969. Admiral John Carter (1785 – 2 April 1863) son of Thomas Carter and Catherine Butler of Castlemartin Co Kildare and grandson of Henry Boyle Carter, was an officer of the Royal Navy, who saw service during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
