Isle Of Wight West
Isle of Wight West is a constituency of the House of Commons in the UK Parliament. Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, it was first contested at the 2024 general election, since when it has been represented by Richard Quigley for the Labour Party. The Isle of Wight is granted two Members of Parliament under the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, as amended by the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011. The constituency has been created alongside Isle of Wight East from the divided former Isle of Wight constituency. Quigley became the first ever Labour MP to represent the Isle of Wight, defeating Bob Seely, who had been MP for the whole island from 2017 to 2024. Newport, Isle Of Wight
Newport is the county town of the Isle of Wight, an island county off the south coast of England. The town is slightly north of the centre of the island, located in the civil parish of Newport and Carisbrooke. It has a quay at the head of the navigable section of the River Medina, which flows northwards to Cowes and the Solent. The 2021 census recorded a population of 25,407. History Mousterian remains, featuring tools made by Neanderthals at least 40,000 years ago, were found at Great Pan Farm in the 1970s. There are signs of Roman settlement in the area, which was probably known as ''Medina''. Electoral Calculus is a political consultancy and pollster, known for its political forecasting website that attempts to predict future United Kingdom general election results. It uses MRP (Multi-level Regression and Post-stratification) to combine national factors and local demographics. Freshwater, Isle Of Wight
Freshwater is a large village and civil parishes in England, civil parish at the western end of the Isle of Wight, England. The southern, coastal part of the village is Freshwater Bay, named for the adjacent small cove. Freshwater sits at the western end of the region known as the Back of the Wight or the West Wight, a popular tourist area. Freshwater is close to steep Chalk Formation, chalk cliffs. Cowes () is an England, English port, seaport town and civil parish on the Isle of Wight. Cowes is located on the west bank of the estuary of the River Medina, facing the smaller town of East Cowes on the east bank. The two towns are linked by the Cowes Floating Bridge, a cable ferry, chain ferry. Cowes has a population of 14,370 according to the United Kingdom Census 2021, 2021 Census.
