The Independent Network (IN) is a United Kingdom-based non-profit organisation supporting independent politicians and political candidates. It is a registered as a political party with the Electoral Commission (United Kingdom), Electoral Commission in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. IN consists of supporters and volunteers who advocate non-partisan politics. Former Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), MPs Martin Bell and Richard Taylor (UK politician), Richard Taylor have been involved. A number of supporters of IN are current independent representatives in Parliament of the United Kingdom, national, National Assembly for Wales, regional and Local government in the United Kingdom, local governments. Terry Waite
Sir Terence Hardy Waite (born 31 May 1939) is a British human rights activist and author. Waite was the Assistant for Anglican Communion Affairs for the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, in the 1980s. As an envoy for the Church of England, he travelled to Lebanon to try to secure the release of four hostages, including the journalist John McCarthy. He was himself kidnapped and held captive from 1987 to 1991. After his release he wrote ''Taken on Trust'' (1994), a memoir about his experiences, and became involved in humanitarian causes and charitable work. ' Reginald Thomas Keys (born 1952) is the father of a British serviceman killed in the Iraq War. He stood in the 2005 general election as an anti-war independent candidate for in Sedgefield, a constituency represented by the then Prime Minister Tony Blair. Biography Keys is a founder member of the campaign group Military Families Against the War. His son, Lance Corporal Tom Keys, was one of six Royal Military Policemen killed by an Iraqi mob in Majar al-Kabir in June 2003. Dame Esther Louise Rantzen (born 22 June 1940) is an English journalist and television presenter who presented the BBC television series ''That's Life!'' for 21 years, from 1973 until 1994.
