Irene Skovgaard
Irene Georgia Skovgaard (2 December 1902 - 12 March 1982) was a Danish writer, composer, and music educator who specialized in recorder music and canons, and belonged to the Skovgaard family of artists. Skovgaard was one of eight children born to Ingeborg Luplau Møller and the painter Niels Kristian Skovgaard. Her grandfather was Peter Christian Skovgaard, the well-known Danish landscape painter. She studied piano and voice at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, finishing in 1930. Skovgaard Museum
The Skovgaard Museum is an art museum in Viborg, Denmark. It is situated in the former town hall from 1728 next to Viborg Cathedral and holds a collection of works by four generations of the Skovgaard family of artists. The Permanent Collection The main feature of the permanent collection is the work of the members of the Skovgaard family. P. C. Skovgaard, Peter Christian Skovgaard (1817–1875) was the principal representative of national romantic landscapes of the Golden Age of Danish painting. P. C. Skovgaard married Georgia Skovgaard (1828-1868). Their sons, Joakim Skovgaard (1856–1933) created the mural decorations in Viborg Cathedral and Niels Skovgaard (1858–1938) also worked with landscape painting. Niels Skovgaard
Niels Kristian Skovgaard (2 November 1858 – 3 February 1938) was a Danish painter and sculptor. His statue of N.F.S. Grundtvig is considered to be a masterpiece of Danish sculpture. Biography Born in Copenhagen, Skovgaard was the son of the notable Danish Golden Age painter P.C. Skovgaard (1817–75). Like his brother Joakim Skovgaard (1856–1933), he was introduced to art by his father who encouraged him to paint in the open air. Artist Janus la Cour (1837–1909) who lived in the Skovgaard home, was also a source of inspiration. He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1874 to 1879 but left without receiving a diploma. Unlike his brother, he was not attracted by the modern painting trends in France despite a visit to Paris in 1883. He was more interested in the styles of painting he experienced in the Netherlands which induced him to paint landscapes on the North Sea coast which showed his mastery of light and air together with a sensitive approach to colour. ... Royal Danish Academy Of Music
The Royal Danish Academy of Music, or Royal Danish Conservatory of Music (), in Copenhagen is the oldest professional institution of musical education in Denmark as well as the largest, with approximately 400 students. It was established in 1867 as ''Kjøbenhavns Musikkonservatorium'' by Niels Gade – who was also the first rector –, J.P.E. Hartmann and Holger Simon Paulli on the basis of a testamentary gift from the jeweler P.W. Moldenhauer, and with inspiration from the Leipzig Conservatory and a conservatory founded by Giuseppe Siboni in Copenhagen in 1827. Carl Nielsen was a teacher in the period 1916–1919 and the rector during the last year of his life. Werner Wolf Glaser
Werner Wolf Glaser (14 April 1910 – 29 March 2006, in Västerås, Sweden) was a German-born Swedish composer, conductor, pianist, professor, music critic, and poet. Life Born in Cologne, Glaser studied piano, conducting, and composition at the Cologne Conservatory, and art history afterwards in Bonn. He finally continued his studies in composition with Paul Hindemith in Berlin, where he also took courses in psychology. From 1929 to 1931, he worked as a conductor at the Chemnitz Opera and went to Cologne in 1932 to conduct choirs. Persecuted by the Nazis due to his Jewish descent, he fled Germany for Paris in 1933. He subsequently moved to Lyngby, Denmark and lectured at the Frederiksbergs Folkemusikhojskole in Copenhagen. In 1939, he opened a School of Music in Lyngbby with composer Irene Skovgaard.
