Iraqi Third Division League
The Iraqi Third Division League is a football league that is the fifth tier of the Iraqi football league system. The league was established in 2024. League format Each team can register up to 25 players in their squad list, and each club is required to have a formal establishment licence issued by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The format of the league for the inaugural 2024–25 season is as follows: First stage Teams are split into 18 regional tournaments in accordance with the 18 governorates of Iraq. Each tournament is organised by the Iraq Football Association's sub-branch in that governorate (except for the tournament in Baghdad which is organised by the IFA Competitions Committee). A total of 42 teams qualify for the second stage. Iraqi Second Division League
The Iraqi Second Division League is a Association football, football league that is the fourth tier of the Iraqi football league system. The league was founded in 1974, and consists of 20 teams split into two groups in the first stage. The top four teams in each group qualify for the second stage, where they are split into two further groups. The two group winners in the second stage are promoted directly to the Iraqi First Division League, while the two bottom teams in the first stage are relegated to the Iraqi Third Division League. In the 2023–24 Iraqi Second Division League, 2023–24 season, Al-Jaish SC (Iraq), Al-Jaish won the championship title after defeating Al-Falluja SC, Al-Falluja 4–2 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in the final match. Iraq FA Cup
The Iraq Cup (), commonly known as the Iraq FA Cup, is an annual Single-elimination tournament, knockout association football, football competition in men's domestic Football in Iraq, Iraqi football organised by the Iraq Football Association. First held in the 1948–49 season for clubs and institutions, it returned in the 1975–76 season as a clubs-only competition. The tournament usually begins with several rounds played between lower division clubs, twelve of which advance to the Round of 32, where the Iraq Stars League clubs are entered. This is followed by the Round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final which is played as a single leg in Baghdad. The winners of the competition are awarded a place in the next season's AFC Champions League Two group stage. AFC Champions League Two
The AFC Champions League Two (abbreviated as the ACL Two or ACL2) is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation. It is the second-tier competition of Asian club football, ranked below the AFC Champions League Elite and above the AFC Challenge League. The competition was founded in 2004 as the AFC Cup, it was played primarily among clubs from nations that did not receive direct qualifying slots to the top-tier AFC Champions League. Iraq consists of 19 governorates (; ), also known as "provinces". Per the Iraqi constitution, governorates can form a Federal regions of Iraq, federal region. Four governorates, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Halabja and Duhok, constitute the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region. The Iraq Stars League (), is the highest level of the Iraqi football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Iraqi Premier Division League. It is governed by the Iraqi Pro League Association. The league was formed by the Iraq Football Association in 1974 as the Iraqi National Clubs League, the first nationwide league of clubs in Iraq, and later became known as the Iraqi Premier League. In 2023, the competition was rebranded as the Iraq Stars League and transitioned into a fully professional competition. The current format sees 20 teams playing 38 matches each (playing each team in the league twice, home and away), totalling 380 matches in the season. Founded in 1986 as a two-team competition, the current version has been contested since 2025 by six teams: the top four teams from the Iraq Stars League and the winners and runners-up of the Iraq FA Cup. The six teams are split into two groups, with the group winners facing each other in the final and the group runners-up competing in a third place play-off.
