Invasion 1984!
"Invasion 1984!" is a British comic strip published by IPC Magazines in the boys' comic anthology title ''Battle'' between 26 March and 31 December 1983. Written by John Wagner and Alan Grant, and drawn by Eric Bradbury, the story depicts an alien invasion of a very near future Earth by advanced, brutal aliens referred to only as 'Spooks'. Creation ''Battle'' had been launched by IPC in 1975 in response to DC Thomson's ''Warlord'', with both focusing on war stories with some connection to real conflicts past and present. While initially both were highly successful, by 1982, sales had begun to fall. In response, ''Battle'' enlarged its scope with the likes of martial arts story "The Fists of Jimmy Chiang" and trucking strip "Truck Turpin". ''Broken Frontier'' is a web-magazine which publishes news, interviews, and essays about the comic book industry, with a focus on the British small press scene. It was founded by Frederik Hautain in 2002. In 2017 the site came under the ownership of long-term contributor and current Editor-in-Chief Andy Oliver. Acquisition by Platinum Studios In 2006, Broken Frontier was purchased by the multimedia entertainment company and comics publisher Platinum Studios as part of an initiative to increase Platinum's Web presence. Broken Frontier was a fully owned subsidiary of Platinum at this time, but was given the autonomy to continue operating as before. However, in July 2007, Platinum terminated its association with Broken Frontier, leaving the site independently owned once again. ''Invasion!'' was a series created by Pat Mills and mostly written by Gerry Finley-Day that appeared in the first 51 editions of the weekly comic '' 2000 AD''. The series introduced the character of Bill Savage, a classic anti-authoritarian character of the type which Mills is best known for. A prequel, ''Disaster 1990'', was published in 1979. The series continued in sequels under the title ''Savage'', beginning in 2004, by Pat Mills and Charlie Adlard. A supernova (: supernovae or supernovas) is a powerful and luminous explosion of a star. A supernova occurs during the last stellar evolution, evolutionary stages of a massive star, or when a white dwarf is triggered into runaway nuclear fusion.
