International Nuremberg Principles Academy
The International Nuremberg Principles Academy (also called "Nuremberg Academy", German: "Internationale Akademie Nürnberger Prinzipien") is a civil-law foundation dedicated to the advancement of international criminal law and related human rights. It was founded in 2014 by the Federal Republic of Germany, the Free State of Bavaria and the City of Nuremberg and is situated in Nuremberg, Germany. Mission The International Nuremberg Principles Academy aims to safeguard peace through the means of the law and preserve the legacy of the Nuremberg trials and the resulting Nuremberg principles. It supports the fight against impunity for universally recognised international core crimes: genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and the crime of aggression. The Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (, FAU) is a Public University, public research university in the cities of Erlangen and Nuremberg in Bavaria, Germany. Bertram Schmitt
Bertram Schmitt (born September 9, 1958) is a German jurist. He was a judge at the Bundesgerichtshof and has been a judge of the International Criminal Court since 2015. Career Early career Between 2005 and 2015, Schmitt served as judge at the Federal Court of Justice (BGH), Germany's supreme court for civil and criminal matters. In 2009, Schmitt was appointed as an ad-hoc judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). From 2009, he represented Germany on the Eurojust Joint Supervisory Body in The Hague. Since 2000, Schmitt has been an adjunct professor for criminal law, criminal procedure and criminology at the University of Würzburg. Brenda J. Hollis is an American lawyer. She was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone in February 2010, replacing Stephen Rapp. Hollis was the Chief Prosecutor at the Special Court and served as the lead prosecutor in the trial and appeal of the case against Charles Taylor, the former President of Liberia. Peter-Herbert Frank (born 5 May 1968) is a German jurist who is currently serving as a judge in the Federal Constitutional Court in the second senate. Prior to this, he served as Public Prosecutor General and as Attorney General for the Higher Regional Court of Munich. Thomas Buergenthal (11 May 1934 – 29 May 2023) was a Czechoslovak-born American international lawyer, scholar, law school dean, and judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Serge Brammertz
Serge Brammertz (born 17 February 1962) is a Belgian prosecutor, academic and jurist. He serves as the chief prosecutor for the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) since 2016. He also served as the chief prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) from 2008 until its closure in 2017. Silvia Alejandra Fernández de Gurmendi (born 24 October 1954) is an Argentine lawyer, diplomat and judge.
