Iggy or Iggie is mostly a female name and it is often a short form of the Roman Latin names Ignatia (feminine) and Ignatius (masculine), or their derivatives in other European languages. Ignatius "Iggy" Jones ( 1927 – 4 September 1992) was a Gaelic footballer who is now considered one of the greats of Tyrone football. Michael Grant Ignatieff ( ; born May 12, 1947) is a Canadian author, academic and former politician who served as leader of the Liberal Party and leader of the Opposition from 2008 until 2011. Ralph Anthony "Iggy" Ignatowski (April 8, 1926 – March 7, 1945) was a United States Marine Corps private who was captured and killed by the Japanese in the Battle of Iwo Jima during World War II.
