Iggy Clarke
Iggy Clarke (born 1952 in Mullagh, County Galway) is an Irish former hurler who played for his local club Mullagh and at senior level for the Galway county team from 1972 until 1984. Clarke is regarded as one of Galway's greatest-ever players. Playing career Club Clarke played his club hurling with his local Mullagh club. He experienced little success with the club and never won a senior county title during his playing days. Fitzgibbon Cup A Student at St Patrick's College, Maynooth, he represented them in the Fitzgibbon Cup alongside Sean Silke (Galway) and Sean Stack (Clare), in an era when Maynooth won the Cup twice, and was runners up twice. Inter-county Clarke first came to prominence on the inter-county scene with the Galway minor team in the late 1960s. Mullagh GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the parish of Mullagh, County Galway, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. The Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (Kilkenny GAA) () is one of the 32 County board (Gaelic games), county boards of the GAA in Ireland and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kilkenny. Pat McDonnell
Pat McDonnell (born 18 March 1950) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a full-back for the Cork senior team. Born in Aghabullogue, County Cork, attended secondary school at Presentation Brothers College, Cork. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of eighteen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team before later joining the under-21 and intermediate sides. He made his senior debut during the 1969–70. McDonnell immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won two All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals and two National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, McDonnell won one Railway Cup medal as a non-playing substitute. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship () or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The first Railway Cup competitions (the name is due to the donation of the trophy by Irish Rail) were held in 1927, with Munster winning the first football title and Leinster winning the first hurling title. Joe Connolly (hurler)
Joe Connolly (born 13 October 1956) is an Irish former hurler who played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Galway county team. Born in Castlegar, County Galway, Connolly first played competitive hurling whilst at school in St Mary's College, Galway. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Galway minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut in the 1976 championship. Connolly went on to play a key role for Galway for almost a decade, and won one All-Ireland medal. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). The Kildare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kildare GAA, is one of 12 county boards governed by the Leinster provincial council of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Kildare.
