Ibrahim Koodbuur
Ibrahim Ismail Koodbur (; – 1987) is an early member of Somali National Movement (SNM). He died in 1987, before the restoration of Somaliland's independence. Biography Koodbur was born in the Garhajis, Isaaq clan. Ibrahim Koodbur received his primary education in Hargeisa, followed by secondary education at the Sheikh and Farah Oomaar, where he graduated in 1972. He then joined the Somali National Army as a cadet and went to Russia for military training, completing his military training in 1977. Operation Birjeex On April 10, 1983, SNM Colonel Abdillahi Askar was captured by the 26th Sector of Hargeisa, Somali armed forces. He was scheduled to be publicly executed the next day. At the time, Koodbur was secretly involved in the SNM and was also the public relations officer for the 26th Sector of the Somali armed forces Hargeisa. Rabaso
Rabaso (), is a town in the Misraq_Gashamo, Daror of Ethiopia. Part of the Jarar Zone, Jarar zone, Rabaso is bordered on the south by Aware (woreda), Aware, on the west by Gashamo, Daror, on the north by the Burco-Duuray, on the northeast by Somaliland, and on the east by Shabelle. Somali National Movement
The Somali National Movement (, ) was one of the first and most important Guerrilla warfare, organized guerilla groups and Mujahideen groups that opposed the Siad Barre regime in the 1980s to the 1990s, as well as being the main anti-government faction during the Somaliland War of Independence. Somaliland
Somaliland, officially the Republic of Somaliland, is an List of states with limited recognition, unrecognised country in the Horn of Africa. It is located in the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden and bordered by Djibouti to the northwest, Ethiopia to the south and west, and Somalia to the east. Garhajis
The Habr Garhajis also contemporarily known as the Garhajis (, , Full Nasab: ''Ismā'īl al Qadhi ibn ash-Shaykh Isḥāq ibn Aḥmad'') is a major Northern Somali clan of the wider Isaaq clan family. They are the traditional holders of the Isaaq Sultanate and Habr Yunis Sultanate since the 18th century. As descendants of Ismail bin Sheikh Isaaq, its members form a part of the Habar Magaadle confederation, and they constitute one of the largest sub-clans of the Isaaq. The Garhajis are divided into two major sub-clans: the Habr Yunis (''Sa'īd Ismail'') and Eidagale (''Da'ud Isma'īl''). They are traditionally nomadic pastoralists, merchants and skilled poets. Isaaq
The Isaaq (, , ''Banu Ishaq'') is a major Somali clans, Somali clan. It is one of the largest Somali clan families in the Horn of Africa, with a large and densely populated traditional territory. The Isaaq people claim in a traditional legend to have descended from Ishaaq bin Ahmed, Sheikh Ishaaq bin Ahmed, an Ulama, Islamic scholar who purportedly traveled to Somaliland in the 12th or 13th century and married two women; one from the local Dir (clan), Dir clan.I.M. The Somali National Army () are the ground forces component of the Somali Armed Forces. Since Somali independence in 1960, the Army fought to expand and increase Somalia's sphere of influence throughout the Horn of Africa counter to Ethiopia's and Kenya's ambitions, because of this, Somalia had amassed large ground forces. Abdillahi Askar
Colonel Abdillahi Askar (; 1947 – 29 August 2010) was a Somali military officer and colonel of the Somali National Movement (SNM). Nicknamed the 'Lion of Gode' after annihilating two Ethiopian divisions in the Ogaden war, he joined the SNM shortly after its foundation. Biography Abdillahi Askar was born in 1947 in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia. He completed his intermediate education in Dire Dawa and returned to Somaliland in 1966. In 1967, he enlisted in the Somali Armed Forces and trained as an officer in the Soviet Union. After some time, he pursued higher education in military leadership and training in the United States. Hargeisa
Hargeisa ( ; ; ) is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Somaliland, a ''List of states with limited recognition, de facto'' sovereign state in the Horn of Africa, still considered internationally to be part of Somalia. It is also the regional capital of the Maroodi Jeex region of Somaliland. Hargeisa was founded as a watering and trading stop between the coast and the interior by the Isaaq Sultanate. Somali Armed Forces
The Somali Armed Forces are the military forces of the Federal Republic of Somalia. Headed by the president as commander-in-chief, they are constitutionally mandated to ensure the nation's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. In 1990 the Armed Forces were made up of the Army, Air Force, Air Defence Force, and Navy. From the early 1960s to 1977, the period when good relations existed between Somalia and the Soviet Union, the Armed Forces had the largest armored and mechanized force in sub-Saharan Africa. Due to Barre's increasing reliance on his own clan, splitting the Armed Forces along clan lines, and the Somali Rebellion, by 1988 they began to disintegrate.
