James "Munky" Shaffer
James Christian Shaffer (born June 6, 1970), also known by his stage name "Munky", is an American musician best known as a co-founder and guitarist of the nu metal band Korn. He was ranked at No. 26 of Guitar World's 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time. Shaffer set up the side-project band Fear and the Nervous System in 2008 and is also the founder of Emotional Syphon Recordings, who have signed acts like Monster in the Machine and Droid. Early life Shaffer was born June 6, 1970, in Rosedale, California. He was adopted by his parents as an infant, along with two other siblings. Shaffer and the other members of Korn grew up in an agricultural town of Bakersfield, California, two hours north of Los Angeles. Save Me From Myself (album)
''Save Me from Myself'' is the debut studio album by Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. After failing to meet a July 2007 release, the album was released on September 9, 2008 by Driven Music Group. Tentatively, the album's working title was ''It's Time to See Religion Die'', however, it was confirmed that its final title is ''Save Me from Myself''. Background and production In February 2005, Welch left Korn which he helped form in 1993, saying moral reasons caused his departure. Welch stated he had distanced himself from the band for one or two years, "I just wanted to fade away, it was crazy. I was so gone." Welch wished to rededicate his life to Jesus. The Ibanez Apex series is a signature series of seven-string guitars created by Korn's guitarist James Shaffer, Munky. Specification They were the official replacement of the Ibanez K7's, and only links to James Shaffer after Brian Welch left the band. As of 2010 the tremolo of the guitar changed to a Lo Pro 7 with a U-bar. In 2011 the Apex100 replaced the Apex1. Apex 100 The Apex 100 has a Tri Fade Burst finish, as the Apex 2 has a Green Shadow Flat finish. They come factory tuned to KoRn's signature tuning: A, D, G, C, F, A, D (low to high). Riffs
A riff is a short, repeated motif or figure in the melody or accompaniment of a musical composition. Riffs are most often found in rock music, punk, heavy metal music, Latin, funk, and jazz, although classical music is also sometimes based on a riff, as in Ravel's Boléro. Brian "Head" Welch
Brian Philip Welch (born June 19, 1970), also known by his stage name Head, is an American musician. He is a guitarist and founding member of the nu metal band Korn and his solo project Love and Death (band), Love and Death, where he also provides vocals. Along with fellow Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, Welch helped develop Korn's distinctive sound (a mix of sirenlike shards of dissonant guitar that mimicked a turntablist's various effects and rumbling down-tuned riffing) that defined the nu metal aesthetic beginning in the mid-'90s. Bolt-on Neck
A Bolt-on neck is a stringed musical instrument neck that attaches to the instrument body with either bolts or screws, as opposed to glue and joinery as with set-in neck joints. Methods The "bolt-on" method is used frequently on solid body electric guitars and on acoustic flattop guitars. In the typical electric guitar neck joint, the body and neck cross in horizontal plane. The neck is inserted into a pre-routed opening in the body (which is commonly called a "pocket"), and then joined using three to four screws. Certain designs may use more than four screws.
