Ibanez Apex
The Ibanez Apex series is a signature series of seven-string guitars created by Korn's guitarist James Shaffer, Munky. Specification They were the official replacement of the Ibanez K7's, and only links to James Shaffer after Brian Welch left the band. As of 2010 the tremolo of the guitar changed to a Lo Pro 7 with a U-bar. In 2011 the Apex100 replaced the Apex1. Apex 100 The Apex 100 has a Tri Fade Burst finish, as the Apex 2 has a Green Shadow Flat finish. They come factory tuned to KoRn's signature tuning: A, D, G, C, F, A, D (low to high). Bolt-on Neck
A Bolt-on neck is a stringed musical instrument neck that attaches to the instrument body with either bolts or screws, as opposed to glue and joinery as with set-in neck joints. Methods The "bolt-on" method is used frequently on solid body electric guitars and on acoustic flattop guitars. In the typical electric guitar neck joint, the body and neck cross in horizontal plane. The neck is inserted into a pre-routed opening in the body (which is commonly called a "pocket"), and then joined using three to four screws. Certain designs may use more than four screws. Seven-string Guitar
The seven-string guitar adds one additional string to the more common six-string guitar, commonly used to extend the bass range (usually a low B) or also to extend the treble range. The additional string is added in one of two different ways: by increasing the width of the fingerboard such that the additional string may be fretted by the left hand; or, by leaving the fingerboard unchanged and adding a "floating" bass string. In the latter case, the extra bass string lies next to the existing bass strings, but free of the fingerboard in similar fashion as the archlute and theorbo. James Shaffer
James Christian Shaffer (born June 6, 1970), also known by his stage name "Munky", is an American musician best known as a co-founder and guitarist of the nu metal band Korn. Brian Philip Welch (born June 19, 1970), also known by his stage name Head, is an American musician. He is a guitarist and founding member of the nu metal band Korn and his solo project Love and Death, where he also provides vocals.
