''I Am Alive in Everything I Touch'' is the eighth studio album by Canadian post-hardcore band Silverstein. The album was released on May 19, 2015 through Rise Records (worldwide) and New Damage Records (Canada). Music and lyrics Similar to ''A Shipwreck in the Sand'' (2009) and ''This Is How the Wind Shifts'' (2013), ''I Am Alive in Everything I Touch'' is a conceptual album penned by lyricist and lead vocalist Shane Told. The album is split into 4 chapters: "''Borealis''" (North), "''Austeralis''" (South), ''"Zephyrus"'' (West) and ''"Eurus"'' (East). Each track's setting is a different city that geographically falls into that region, with real life recordings of each city incorporated into the songs. Their band name is a reference to the famous children's author Shel Silverstein, whom the band had admired and whose work they had read as children. Screaming is an extended vocal technique that is popular in "aggressive" music genres such as heavy metal, punk rock, and noise music and others. It is common in the more extreme subgenres of heavy metal, such as death and black metal as well as many other subgenres.
